When I still had my SSE grille insert on, I installed the '69 grille pony with brackets from John's Mustang: http://johnsmustang.com/Parts/details-3491.html .

I used this one and made my own backing bracket out of soft aluminum. It has 1 inch threaded studs on the back so you have to build a U-shaped bracket to fit.

Yes. I was gonna make a bracket, but I stuck it on with just the tape to see if I liked it, and it is on there man! I honestly think that you'd break the emblem if you just tried to pull it off without heat, wire, etc. My cervinis quarter window scoops have been held on for over a year with just tape, and they've seen really high speeds without a problem.

Do you have a part number for those? I bought the 71-73 Mach I bracket, but it looks like it's going to need some fab work.

here they are on Ebay- you have to buy the set, which is both left and right:

Sorry, I didn't take one before I mounted the grille and I can't get a good shot with it mounted. So I used MS Paint and drew a rough image of the bracket (attached below). The bracket is made of soft strip aluminum out of my scrap bin that was easily bent in a vise into the U-shape with ears. I then drilled holes in the ears so that the studs can go through.

The bracket is about .5 inch wide and 2+ inches long across the top of the U. It perfectly straddles two of the grille openings. The part I bought (71-73 Mach I) has about 1 inch studs and they come threaded and include the nuts. But the studs aren't long enough to extend past the back of the grille, hence the U-shape to the bracket.

Hope this helps!
