WebElectric has them for $39 bucks. Looks good for an inexpensive mod. Wiring looks like work though.

Not as cheap at $99.99, but the pony grill insert looks cool! Snaps into place.

I'm more interested in automatic headlights. My old Monte Carlo spoiled me rotten with them. I work nights so I always have to remember to turn the lights on and off now. I know it sounds silly, but for seven years, almost half the time I've been driving total, I haven't had to turn on my headlights EVER.

If you leave your lights on they will automatically turn off after a while, kinda like a battery fail safe

Please stay on topic. This topic is regarding the Daytime running lights, not the grille insert.

Anyway, in Canada the headlights are setup as daytime running lights. The only way to turn them off is by applying the parking brake. It would be cool to convert the signal lights into daytime running lights and disable the headlights. I'll have to talk to Lawrence about this new product of his.

I think I perfer the Canadian method: much harder to ignore, so safer. Think I'll ask clevparts how much.

I don't know why Ford doesn't do this on all their cars. My Expedition and our company's Lincolns all have DRL. Every GM prodcuct I've owned in the past 6 years has had them. I thought it was something standard also.

The Daytime Running Lights Feature should Be present in All 05/06 Mustangs. As Far as I can Tell it is either ENABLED or DISABLED from the Farctory. Next time My Car is in For Service I will Have Service attempt this. It is Progammed via the SJB or Smart Junction Box. I fully expect most Dealers to say it can't be done. Just Like the Mycolor Retrofit. I will Post when and If it's succesful. Meanwhile if TIBERIOUS is out there He may beat me to the Test.

kc

BTW Thanks to Adrenalin for his Canadian Vin Which helped me find the Info!

I had to buy a DRL module from a Ford dealer in order to activate the DRL's on an F150 I owned. (USA) I have ordered the DRL Module from Web Electric Parts for my 06 GT. I am wondering if the turn signal bulbs will get very hot being on all the time.

I don't know what an SJB is, but sounds like something can be switched to turn on DRLs and automatic locking doors - cool!

I personally wouldn't mind having an easy way to reprogram the DRL's so that the ambers are on and not the headlights.

Some of the vehicles do it like that up here

I have a hard time getting my arms around the notion of paying $40 plus shipping for something that just turns on my parking lights.
Now if it turned on the high or low-beams at half-power like my GMC does - that would be a different story.

To be accurate, it's $39, which includes free Priority Shipping.

Also, the module does not turn on the parking lights. Those would be too dim, and on some cars, turning on the parking lights dims the instrument panel lamps -- something you don't want during the day.

This module controls the major filaments, which are the turn signal filaments. These run around 32-35W, and show up very nicely. This is similar to the systems used on Corvettes, most Chryslers and other cars.

I prefer this system to that of the half-power high-beam DRL system. The high beams are aimed too high, and even in daylight, the glare is too great to oncoming cars, and through the rear view mirror.

I thank you for your comments.

I installed the DRL module last week. Install was easy, but an extra pair of hands was welcome. As noted in another post, the module turns on the brighter turn signal filaments and really looks great I think. I've gotta admit I like the safety aspect also. On my job, I drive a delivery vehicle with only mirrors to view traffic around me. DRL's make a vehicle much more visable in the daytime especially when there is glare or even shadows involved.

I will be taking mine in soon for her first check up, I am interested if they can be turned on from the SJB (ins disc). A little off topic but KC can the '06 explorer nav system fit in the Mustang? Thanks
