What would be the best finish for the black parts of a Mach 1/Boss tribute.

satin, flat???

 

That would be FLAT (on the hood and spoiler at least), no question.

 

I did mine with semigloss/matte black. Almost all of the old muscle cars were done that way.The 69-70 Machs had semigloss black hood stripes, ram-air scoop, chin spoiler, rear window sport slats. 70's also had semigloss deck lid stripe and rear wing.

Matte black

 

Flat or matte. (same thing) Not semigloss.
Those are two different shades. It can't be both.

 

its definitely semi-flat black, not semi-gloss.

hmmmm, being based from the parts industry and seeing two different color labels, semi flat and semi gloss are definitely not the same.

 

Semi-flat is black no shine nothing it does not even reflect light....Semi-gloss reflects a bit of light and feels like glass giving it a bit of a shine

 

What you'r describing as semi-flat is simply flat. (or matte)

Organsol is the paint that was on most musclecars back in the day. The original formula is very hard to find thanks to the EPA but PPG makes stuff now that is close.

Sorry for opening up this can of worms, guys. My post was a bit confusing and, no, semigloss black is not the same as matte black.

Go with matte for the hood stripes.
