Emblems & Logos

Most of us don't need no "stinking badges", but all (most) Mustangs could wear a Powered By Ford emblem.

Nice Aviator Mark, got a confirmed order yet, still working on mine.

No, I still got a few feelers out. Come december I'll probably still be surfing Ebay for a good deal on an 08 SGT. Wasn't it nice of Ford to give the dealers an extra $1110 profit for the 08 SGTs? (Shelby package dealer cost $8390, MSRP $9500)

Ok, I finally put 2+2 together (recognize who you are on here vs on the Shelby forum site)

I also am not a big emblem guy which is why I installed an Agent 47 grill sans pony. Unfortunately the grill is so transparent you can see everything that used to be hidden by the stocker including the horns and body-colored sheet metal to which the hood latch attaches. I relocated the horns and painted whatever I could black so the background isn't AS noticeable, though it still shows. I'd like to put a subtle emblem in the center to conceal that piece a bit. Is anyone aware of a Cobra emblem with a couple of simple threaded studs that would bolt on to a flat grill?

I'll never understand people's obsession with badges. Be it Mustang or Camaro, import or domestic, everybody seems to be obsessed with getting that piece of plastic on their car. I dislike the Cobra badges for two reasons:

1) There are so many owners who put them on any mustang from a 150hp V6 to a 700hp blown GT that it the mustang fleet has become saturated with the emblems, a cobra badge is truly the "Type R" of the domestics.

2) I don't care how many horsepower your car has, how many body pieces you got from a Cobra/Shelby, you cannot "create" a Cobra. Cobra/Shelbys are individually numbered and (at least with the 96-04 cobras) have a serialized engine block signed by the builders accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Nothing you do can "create" that.

Of course the real question is, why? Why the obsession with making your car look like just another factory Mustang? Why not go for something unique? Why do we need emblems? Everyone knows our cars are Mustangs, everyone knows our cars are "Powered by Ford", so why are we paying $200+ for some plastic so that everyone knows what is already obvious?

Look at Steve McQueen's Bullitt, what made him/that car so cool was that he didn't need to come out and advertise the kind of car he had or what he was running, the actions/driving spoke for that. Hence the irony in my mind of a "Bullitt" badge, if you have to label your car as a "Bullitt" then that just seems the opposite to me of the "spirit" of the bullitt car. Let the Civics and Integras have their badges to make up for their lack of torque, when you got a cool car with great power you don't need any of that stuff.

Even Ford used the Cobra name on some of its Mustangs(Awesome cars BTW).You should of heard the A.C. Cobra guys unload about that. Then you have "snakes" selling "Powered by Ford" emblems at $200.00 on e-bay and proudly admitting huge profits. Its the American way.
I bend the rules with my mod rod all the time.It makes it fun. I'm livin' life.
Now we drive retro cars that resemble true classics from back in the day.I've heard the s-197 called fake Mustangs from the classic guys at some the shows. Why? Becuase they are plastic? Yadda Yadda Yadda.
From AMC's to Chevies people are putting 401 badges on 304 cars,SS emblems on plain-Jane Camaros,R/T emblems on 318 cars. Then selling their clones at the Barrett auction for buucooo bucks.
I really wish American Racing hadn't put Cobras(center caps) on my TT M's but hey ol' Mr.Shelby hinself put his name on them.I hope its alright.

My 18 chrome bullitts came w/ cobra badges.Spending 75.00 for a set of pony caps is a little rediculous if you ask me..Not trying to pass my car off as a Cobra though.. I'm such a poser
