Does anyone know if the 18 inch wheels are going to be offered in chrome only, or will there be options?

I remember reading 4 total GT wheels.

Bullitts, Concepts, Fanblade machined, fanblade chromed

Think you'll see both machined/chromed.
Chrome rims are a bundle alone....add that to the 18s and KDW's...I think it could be a heafty option.
You'll see machined as well.

Screw the ford 18s, I'm getting one of these two. Modas look more like the Ford ones, but the Giovannas are more pimp (and expensive)

Why is everyone so hung up on the Ford factory 18's when you can pick the exact style you want in the aftermarket?

$$$$

big difference in spending maybe $7-800 to upgrade to 18's from the factory or paying $2000 for aftermarket 18's with rubber.

They can also sell their factory rims and tires and get some of that back.

the main difference is that you don't have to layout X amount of cash immediately upon getting the new rims..they are built into your lone so you immediate cash flow is not interupted. Even if the factory 18's cost 1000 space bucks it's easier to absorb that in the loan then just shelling out 1K over the counter. Well it is for us poor folks anyway.

Yeah, I understand that. I shelled out about $5K on my '02 Grand Prix in the aftermarket including $2K in the rims and tires in my earlier post.

Exactly. Aftermarket will cost you a bunch more $$$. It may be worth it depending on availability though. I'm personally weighing both options, but I WILL have 18's on this car.

I stumbled across the following article on how manufacturers are jumping on the growing plus-size wheel market.

See - http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/index.php?pag...1_cruiserdealer

Note the following quote regarding the 2005 Mustang:

"Ford is working on an 18-inch chrome wheel package for the 2005 Mustang, said Miles Johnson, Ford spokesman. The company already offers a number of plus-size wheel packages to customers looking to increase the performance and style of their vehicles.

Although he said the company has acknowledged the growing popularity of large wheels and low-profile tires, Johnson said Ford is not planning on large-scale changes in their options for cosmetic purposes.

"We are looking at putting larger wheels and tires on vehicles," he said. "I don't think there is a better aftermarket tire out there that is better than the next generation Mustang that we're putting out.""

I have heard that the bolt pattern is different than the previous generations (might explain why the Bullitt type wheels are not the same as the previous ones as well). Can anyone verify this?

You're right on this one, the new bolt pattern will be different, so therefore no way can your older mags fit on the new Mustangs.( read MARKETING) :bang:

I'd be really surprise if they would fit.

Remeber, Ford has a big contract with BFG who are supplying the 18's. BFG also has ad's out saying they are going to have tires for the new stang.

The new car will get 18's by next year at the absolute latest IMO. And from then on they will be offered.
