Do the magnaflows have to be welded on or can they be bolted on as well ?

Toby if you got the cash get the SLP Loudmouths! One weekend we will have to get together and you can hear mine. I put them on today and love them! Sound awesome and the tips look great!

I installed a set of Ford chrome exhaust tips on my 2005 Legend Lime Mustang GT and thought I'd share a few pix for those considering tip options.

I didn't want big honkin' tips, just ones that would make the exhaust pipes more visible. I noticed that from behind, the stock exhaust pipes were barely noticeable. The roll-lipped ends of the chrome tips really help that and compliment the cutouts on the rear bumper.

I got the tips from my dealer's parts department. They cost $117 out the door, tax included. The tips were special-ordered and arrived within a week. I also picked up a bottle of touch-up paint for $10.

These chrome tips install in minutes. A bracket is spot-welded onto the back of the tip. You just slide the tip over the stock tip and use a 15mm deep-socket to tighten the clamp. Some have said that they moved the bracket so you wouldn't see the clamp. I guess they broke the spot-weld. I wasn't that industrious. Besides, it doesn't bother me that the bolt is visible (you'd have to really look to spot it). You're supposed to torque the nut to 47.5 +/- 7.2 Nm (whatever that means). But I don't have a torque wrench, so I just made sure they were good and tight without crushing the pipe! They don't budge.

Comments/questions welcome!

By the way, the first shot is BEFORE I added the tips!

Got mine from Fred's Muffler in Wentzville, MO. Ordered the tips, and had them installed the next day. Took off the old tips, and welded these on. Total for tips and install was $149. ( Fords are bolt ons for $117.......)Well worth every dime, They look amazing, people notice them all the time. Fills the holes in the bumper just right. here are some pics.

I'll be able to remove these tips and put them on my next set of mufflers. No torches required!

And I don't care for huge, garish tips. I just wanted my tips to stand out a little.

Thanks, Scott. I still think they're a little better than the stock exhaust tips.
