Did a quick chop for the wife. She doesn't like the SHR tail panel so I was thinking about buying the CDC one and cutting a hole in it for the medallion. Does anyone know how thick the panel is.

It's hollow...so cutting through it would probably not be the best idea.
The thickness of the panel from front to back (not counting slats) is about an inch.
The wall thickness is probably 1/4" or less.

I don't like it personally. That's just my opinion though... take it for what it's worth. I personally think the cool thing about the panel is that it gets rid of the faux gas cap. I say leave it how it is.

i like the panel covering the cap, i think it makes it look a little more subtle and clean, i cant do it tho, im working on possibly upgrading to a GT soon, so i cant do any mods right now

It doesn't "cover" the cap, you have to remove the cap. Heat gun + spatula/fishing line.

So could I cut through the outer panel and apply the medallion to the back panel.

You could do that but then you have to deal w/ stuff getting trapped on the inside of the panel....I would not recommend this course of action.
They make a panel w/ a GT badge on it as well, this is what I ordered.

Why don't you just get the Silverhorse Racing Honeycomb Panel that comes with the hole?

I did see a CDC panel on a Mustang GT at the Ford Motorsport display at NMRA yesterday and they put a classic V8 emblem with the 'Power By Ford' script under it in place of the GT on the panel.

Hey All,
Just installed my CDC blackout. Ordered a tri-bar emblem to go on it as well. Looks pretty darn good IMO. Let me know what you think. BTW It was soooooo easy to do... even grinding down the ribs to fit the emblem took less than 10 minutes.
