CDC Louvered C-Pillar Scoops
Before you read this - yes I searched prior to posting. Unless I missed the post no one has answered 3 questions I have prior to ordering:
First- How do you clean the glass underneath the scoops? The instructions for installation clearly mention brackets & screws. I realize the scoops attach with 3M tape. Do the screws & brackets allow for cleaning or am I confused?
Second - The instructions also state "We recommend that you blackout the backside of the scoop for a better appearance from inside the vehicle." I was planning on painting the backside of the scoops the same color as the outside for a better appearance. What has everyone else done?
Third - How much have you been paying to get the louvers painted to match the body color? I only saw 1 post that mentioned $150.00 for painting to match the body color.

Just picked mine up from the dealer tonight after being painted to match. I'll install tomorrow AM.

Only an idea but I know Windex makes the cleaner for house windows which you spray on and then rinse off and it leaves them clean and clear of soap, etc. Have used it on second floor windows and it works good - would assume it would do the job. Hard to estimate a painting cost based on regional differences. I had my CDC chin spoiler painted for $60.00 materials and labor. Others have been paying $150 and up in larger cities, etc
MRT Louvers are the same as the CDC's. I had mine installed last week and they look great. At this time they only have one Bracket for the installation so the 3M tape is needed to keep them on the car. The second bracket is still under development, once you have both of those you'll be able to remove the Louvers for cleaning the windows. I had inside of mine painted the same color as the car Legend Lime, but some owners are having them painted Satin Black on the inside.
Cleaning right now is a matter of sliding papertowels in between the slots in the louvers. I've been very successful using a shot Invisible Glass Cleaner spray and sliding in the papertowels in the slots.
I paid 125 Bucks but it was included in the price of about getting 6 grand in body work from and accident, (Mustang Sandwich Crown Victoria in the Rear, Ford 150 in the front)
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info !! I ordered mine from CDC last Friday. Hopefully they come soon !! darn customs could be a pain !! :bang:
As for painting them, Im a painter so it wont cost me much...just materials. I may put the car in the shop for some "stripes" and to paint the mirrors as well. Im thinking of Cherry balck ghost hood ala 69 BOSS 302 style. Cherry black back panel and rear spoiler. I was even considering painting the louvers the cherry black but that may be too much
Now as for getting the windows clean..The Mr. Clean Air dry thing seems to work really well on the windows!! As long as you clean the glass really well before the install, it shouldn't be an issue.

I agree with Jon ( couple posts above ) about the cleaning.....it's easy, there's more than enough room to slide in a paper towel and get just about the whole window nice and clean and shiney. It's really not the problem I was expecting it to be.

I've had mine for a few months now. After cleaning the car I just use the chamois inbetween the openings to get most of the water off of the window. I really don't care about water spots on the glass, afterall, unless you are in the back seat you won't see them.
As for painting, I had the inside painted satin black. I personally cannot stand the look of body match paint on the inside. I don't want to turn my head to see dark charcoal interior and sonic blue in the window. Black blends it all together.
