CDC ducktail spoiler cracking!!

I have a problem...

I noticed a small, one inch or so crack is starting to develop in my CDC ducktail spoiler. I'm very concerned about this... I don't want the spoiler to break. It is on the drivers side, extending from the top of the ducktail down the smooth portion toward the trunk. It barely reaches the trunk lid.

What are my options to keep it from spreading or, heaven forbid, break off?

If pics are needed, I'll get some as soon as the weather cooperates.

Yes - Pics! That's scary considering that's bolted to the back of my car. Yours may just be a fluke. As far as I know, I put the first CDC DT on a Mustang and I haven't had any problems yet. :fingerscrossed: :knocksonwood: I'd give CDC a call and see if this isn't something they'd take care of for you. Unless it's was overtightend during install, or shows sign of an impact, I'd expect them to repair it / replace it as it sounds like a materials or workmanship issue.

I wouldn't do anything to it until placing a call to CDC. As mentioned above, sounds like a fluke as you are the first person I heard of having this problem. See what CDC has to say about it.

If you'd keep it under a 100 mph it would never do that!

probably from closing the trunk, a lot of people use the spoiler to push the trunk down, same thing happened to my sons car, had the body shop fix it and it happened again a month later.

I used to get cracks in the paint on the spoiler of my '87 Trans Am years ago, I never use the spoiler to close the trunk. I always use a couple fingers in the keyhole to close the trunk, less hand-prints and stuff on it that way.

Let's see those pics, so I know what to keep an eye out for on mine. It's only a couple months old, hopefully I won't get any cracks for decades.

I've had my ducktail for almost a year now and no cracking yet. Knock on wood. FYI-I always close my trunk by putting my finger in the keyhole and pulling down.

Well that makes three of us. Sometimes I'll grab the emblem to pull the lid down and wipe the prints off w/ my shirt sleeve.

Sorry for the bad links! Didn't even notice the extra http

I hope its not an instillation related issue... I had the spoiler installed at the dealer I purchased the car from (In Quad Cities, IL). I really don't wanna drive all the way back there for an issue like that...

What's all the gunk in the crack? It's hard to tell from the pics, but it does look install related to me.
