CDC Ducktail Q's
Hey guys and gals. I was just wondering, for those who have the ducktail, how much installation time and money is required and if you have any complaints about it?
It says that there are holes if I have the normal spoiler (which I do) and I think their hole fillers/cover is aweful. How much would it cost to paint over that or cover it somehow so no one would see it?
Thanks for answering.

Badandy, it'll probably be a little over $300 to have your holes filled and lid painted. I've got the ducktail and a thread on it in exterior mods. I'm going to find it for you... be back in a minute.

There you go. There's a few pics in there. Installation wasn't that bad... read my tips and ask me if you have any questions.
No complaints other than CDC's customer service. If you order it (and I recommend it) get it through partshopper.com... better customer service and cheaper price for the same DT.

Just curiouse, is it a law to have the thirs brake lite now?

yes
Is that a national law, or state-specific. I am also considering the CDC ducktail. And I like it without the light cutout like SS's ducktail. I can always put up the light bar, but I'd rather not.
As far as patching the holes in the stock spoiler, I had it done for $250. They welded the holes (make sure they weld them and don't just try and fill them because the filler will eventually fall out) and then they primed/painted/cleared the entire trunk. The guy gave me a deal because I was having him stripe my car... so it might cost you more like $300.

I think it's Federally mandated that all new cars being produced have them, and whether they're actually on the vehicle on the road is up to the State. (regarding 3rd brake lights) And take the extra time to put it up, please. It's not hard, and doesn't detract from the look of the car when it's inside the window. That light will look a lot better than an F-350 sticking out of your trunk.
Well its at the body shop getting prepped. It will be a few days they are real busy. They wanted $280 to prep paint and install. I think its high priced but this place does real high end cars... I will keep you updated. BTW the body guy said that the product looks like its good quality and it has a pretty good fit.
