CDC Ducktail and Break Light Install
#1
My car will be built this week so I have been talking to the dealer about CDC Ducktail and Break Light Install. He said $300 to install the ducktail and $300 more to install the taillight.
For $600, I'm thinking I should try it myself. The idea of drilling holes in my new baby makes me very nervous! What if I f'ed up? I couldn't live with myself. Taking apart the interior also freaks me out. What if I tore or broke some plastic piece or something.
I think I'd be willing to pay $300 for the piece of mind that a "professional" is doing the work but $600 seems a bit high!
What do you guys think? How much would you pay?
Did you do it yourself? How hard was it? How well did you do?
I can always find a different shop to do it.
Can anyone recommend a body shop in the KC area?

Find a new shop! I didn't do mine all at once, but it would take 1.5 - 2 hours at most. Bodyshop labor rates are usually about $40/hr. You should be able to get that done for $100 bucks. And installing the light should be nothing more than .5 hour or so. I'd find a shop that'd do the whole thing for $200 if you really don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. That way, they're getting plenty of $ for the job and will take their time to do it right. If you want to do something yourself, install the light. I didn't use the CDC light, just a 'shelf' light from PepBoys and is was easy. Just stick an splice 2 wires. The CDC one might even have a 'plug' making it easier yet.
I'm assuming your CDC DT is painted, if not, then $300 might be more like it.
