I was wondering about the third break light and the CDC ducktail. In the pictures on CDC's website the third break light is missing with the ducktail installed. I e-mailed CDC yesterday and this was there response.

Frank,

Thank you for your interest in CDC!

CDC will be offering an additional package that will include the 3rd brake light. We will be either mounted on lower or upper package tray. We will keep your information on file and update you as we go along with the spoiler and the third brake light option. Any questions please let me know.

Thank you

Hope this helps anyone else who is interested in this spoiler.

CDC sure keeps us going to their site but I am tired of seeing "TBD" on everything.

And I am moving to Texas hopefully this summer, just a bit west of you in San Antonio. I am gonna stick with the stock spoiler though, just painted black.

Just sent them an email about the shaker. It says you can use the stock hood with it, I just don't know if I can cut a hole in it though. Oh well, I think I like the stock hood better than the CDC one to go with the shaker.

Sorry for my ignorance, but exactly what are they talking about -- what/where is the lower or upper package tray?

I think the package tray is the area behind the rear seats, just inside the rear window, not for sure though.

I drove for many years without a third brakelight. They didn't make them, and no ne ever rear-ended me. I know it is now mandated for manufacturers to include them for safety, but is it illegal to drive without one? It may be a local issue, but I don't really want/need one if it isn't forced upon me.

I wouldn't sweat it.... I really doubt a cop is going to pull you over and say that he's going to give you a ticket because you modified your car to elimiate the 3rd brake light.... what about pickups who put a camper shell on them that doesn't have a 3rd brake light?
It's an issue regulated for new diesigns by the NHTS, but not enforced by the cops.... that's like him pulling you over because your passenger's side airbag was turned off with an adult sitting in the front seat.
wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Yes and no, if your vehicle is older than when the mandate came out, then you don't have to have one, but if it is newer, it is required.

I like the stock hood better than the one they are offering with it. So I will be having a hole cut in mine.

at least they don't give you a huge black plastic piece to put on top of your hood like they did with the 99-04
