and I also believe flat black is the best way to go. Now for the question of should I do that myself or have someone do it?

I think I would leave the painting up to the pro's. I not sure but I think there is a special agent that is added to paint to make it more flexable for parts like the spoiler. I would think you could get it painted for $100-$150.
