I'm thinking of starting a project and I'm looking for a little advice.

I want a stock looking grille but without fogs or the pony. Anyone think this is possible? Is there any way to make a V6 grille fit a GT front fascia?

The easiset, more expensive way would be to get the V6 front fascia- that said, I have not been able to actually compare the two grilles side by side so I don't know what kind or how much modification it would take. I'd try to find one for cheap off ebay and experiment with that

Problem is I'm looking at installing an aftermarket front fascia.
My plan right now is to buy a used V6 grille AND a used GT grille and start cutting, but I was hoping I could just do it with a V6 grille.

I'm interested in any info anyone has. I like the GT front fascia, but don't want fogs or a gap in ym grill. I wish a company would make a stock V6 looking grill that would fit a GT fascia.

A lot of guys are replacing their V6 bumper covers with the GT bumper cover so they can get a good fit for GT grille on the V6.Have you thought about advertising for a V6 bumper cover in your color and swapping it into your GT and then the V6 grille may fit.It would be a reverse swap from a GT bumper cover to a V6 bumper cover. There has to be some V6 bumper covers out there.

Actually, I'll be installing an aftermarket fascia if I can get the grill the way I want it so that wouldn't work.
I've bought a V6 grille and it'll be here in about a week, but I've already been told it'll be too small.
Looks like the next step will be to get a GT grille to go along with it and start cutting. However, the more I think about it, the more I realize it's going to be pretty hard to do.

I have cut holes in about 20 V6 grilles to install fog lights and I believe trying to fill in the fog light holes on a GT grille with pieces out of a V6 grille will be a chore. To get an exact fit will require a lot of cutting, sanding and probably some cursing. It will look good if it can be done so keep us posted.

The plan is for a Roush front fascia. I assume it's only made for the GT grille so first I'll try to make it fit to my stock fascia before I buy the Roush.

Bad news. Not only is there a gap on the sides, but the side tabs that hold it in are angled inward so there's no way they'll fit in the holes.

It IS possible to get a V6 grille to fit in the GT fascia, but most of the tabs would have to be cut off and you'd have to find another way to make it stay in there. (epoxy maybe?) But there would still be the gaps.

So if anyone else wants to do some experimenting with a V6 grille, I have one cheap... just pay shipping.

You know what I want to see? A company come out with a V-6 grill for a GT and then a lower GT grill that holds some fog lights. I know that there are already facias but I wouldnt want to go to that extent. It would be nice IMO to have to small fog light centermounted discreetly on the lower grill portion.

I just wish Ford would have used the same grille in both, just added foglights to the GT grille. Even the honeycomb openings are different sizes on the two grilles. Also, they shouldn't have integrated the horse into the plastic. It should have been a completely seperate piece.
Here's what I was planning on doing and why I didn't want or need the fogs. (this pic is "borrowed" from another TMS member and then photochopped)

EDIT: I just realized I put the wrong picture in here. The other one had fog lights. THIS is what I want.

Hey Jason, might be a bit of a stretch but give CDC a call and talk to them about what you're thinking. They're great to deal with and really enthusiastic about suggestions. Who knows....there's lots of people out there that don't want their fogs and frankly, some of the aftermarkets (like SS Inserts) look like.....well.....aftermarket.

Just a thought.

Got a response back from CDC.

We are currently working on a couple of different grille designs, that we believe will fill your need for a more OE appearance. These designs are in the prototype stage so feasibility and final design have not been determined, but we hope to have more information in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your email and we will keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Marnie Kramer

I'm thrilled with their answer, but I won't get my hopes up until I see the finsihed product.
