I get plenty of wrench, brush, sponge and any other type of work time, so missing a few hours of time painting the calipers didn't do me any harm.

I agree with the pricing being too high. But overall I guess all the aftermarket parts are overpriced.

HMM I'm was thinking about MGP ones as well. Maybe I won't. One question though, I painted calipers (twice, rather poorly.) The paint is starting to chip. If I wanted to repaint them red, for good, what should I do to get the surface prepped right? I saw a Brake caliper paint kit at Pep Boys yesterday, it came with cleaner for prep. Do I need to do anything extra? $20 sounds much better than $200 for the MGP things.

Alright. So I'm just going to attempt to paint them. Haha.
The MGPs don't look that appealing to me. Well, at least the reds look bad.
I'm just kinda skeptical about painting them my self. And if anyone knows anything about getting to gt/cs decal on them let me know!!!

Powder coat would probably be best, as Silversky mentioned. If you do decide to go with the paint though...as a reference: I painted the calipers on both my '08 and on a '99 with the G2 kit (got 'em here) and it's held up well for at least a year or two on both cars (can't remember exactly how long ago it was that I painted them). I used a wire brush on them first (really was only needed for the '99), then sprayed them with the cleaner that comes with the G2 kit. Followed by painting them per the instructions. I'm not sure if it was the prep, or the G2 kit itself, that has enabled them to hold up, but they have been good for me. Here is a pic of them on the '08 (they look a little darker in person, the bright sun in this pic kind of drowns them out, not to mention the shadows in this pic):

I have a set of the covers sitting in a box , once I got them and installed one I decided that I didn't like them. So I decided to get them powder coated , but the rear brakes have a seal that isn't designed to be removed , at least the dealer ship didn't want to remove it , and they can't be baked unless it is. Maybe the seal can be removed and they just didn't want to do it , I didn't try anywhere else. Instead I got the G2 paint set and took it to my paint shop and they first put a special primer on that I believe was called Bully Dog , not sure about the spelling. But it's been over 3 years now and they haven't chipped at all ...
