I was wondering if it was safe to use the California Duster on my Black GT or will it create fine scratch marks. I would only use it with a light surface dust on the car. If it isn't,what would be good to use outside of totally washing the car?

Put it this way. If there is the slightest amount of dust on the car and you brush it off with something it will leave tiny little marks unless you wax the car often. Dust is abrasive and nothing will change that. Not even the california duster....End of story.

Forgot to mention, several wax manufacturers make detailers (ie: Mequires Detailer). You spray it on before a car show and wipe it off. It is used to remove finger prints, dust, etc.. Why doesn't it scratch the finish since you are using a rag to apply it? Well, actually it does scratch the finish, or should I say "wax". However, the detailer I believe does fill in the small fine scratches your rag would make while removing the dust. I use this product all the time when I enter car shows. Works great.

I did buy a california duster and used it once.....ya, once.

I use the California Duster on my black 2000 V6 and its my best friend. Mind you, my car usually has a fresh coat of wax on it. If you find you're seeing marks, wax em out. I use Eagle One Nanowax to fill in the fine scratches and it works great. My car wouldnt be as shiny as it always is if it werent for the duster...just be ready to have that wax on there to protect and fix.

I too have had excellent luck with my California Duster for years on my black vehicles. Trick is to not use it once the car has too much dirt/debris on it - my car is a garage baby so I don't have to leave it outside.

Also, I shake the duster out evertime I use it and don't do what my sister did with the one I gave her - she immediatey washed it and couldn't understand why it only created static electricity and would not hold the dust

I use Meguiar's Quick Detailer daily, keeps it looking freshly washed and waxed.

I use the driveway blower or the air compressor hose. It blows all the loose stuff off, without touching the car. <Just be careful to hold it away from the car> I use it to dry my Harley too - easy work. :P
