California Dream Hood Questions?
California Dream Hood Questions?
If you have the California Dream Hood please post your pictures and a couple of questions?
1. Does water get on the cold air induction when it rains or you wash your car?
2. Do you have to pin the hood or is it fairly stable at higher speeds?
3. How much prep was invloved before paint. Labor is outrageous in body shops here in California.
Thanks~

Whole lotta info on these forums. Try a search, but..
1. No water problems
2. Oh yeah, gotta pin it!
3. mine required minimal prep. Depends on whether you want a daily drive or a show car....

I got cheap ones from AutoZone for $8. They worked great, and the package said that they were 100% stainless on all parts. NOT! The keys were chromed, and they flaked and discolored pretty quickly. Otherwise, they're fine. I keep on the lookout for some nice SS keys, but it's really not a major priority for me. Search for Steve's directions on installing them. There is even a picture of the package that he used (from Pepboys) which turned out the be the exact same as the ones I used. The installation procedure isn't as scary as it sounds. I have a really hard time uploading pics, but I'll try.

DANG your car is sweet Jim.......
1. No water problems at the filter. Water does get in, but who knows where it goes? You can hear it the first time you open the hood after washing it.
2. Oh yeah, gotta pin it! Yes, Yes, Yes.
3. Mine required minimal prep. Depends on whether you want a daily drive or a show car.... I took mine to the Ford dealer and got a fair price and a good match with the paint. Oh, I have 4 trophies since the hood install.
Here are a few pics. Hope this helps.

SC67Stang what kind of hood pins are the ones you are useing...i was thinking of the Ford Racing ones but they only have the ones with the lanyards attatched not the ones with the keys
Thank you, oh pilot of Dark Knight II. I've been drooling over your car for some time now. And my pins are exactly the ones that SC67 used. Print his directions, and all will go well. Drilling into your freshly painted, brand new fiberglass hood is a thrill to turn your hair gray(er).
i know you need stainless steel for hood pins but what are the best buy for these hoods...i am looking for a kit you can just go buy and not have to worry about mixing and matching....if not i might just do like SC67 and just buy the FR pins and get longer posts
