Cali Dream Hood & Stripes Help! Going in Tomorrow!

So I've tracked down an old friend who will be fixes all the body disasters I have right now. These include my Roush spoiler and Cali Dream hood. After I was talking to him today we threw around the idea of some matte black stripes (which I've always wanted) to match my already matte back wheels. Hes giving me a GREAT deal on the job but I can't decide what I want!

Should I do just the stripes starting at the vents and going back but only on the trunk lid and spoiler? This is what my body guy thinks I should do but for some reason this idea makes me think of a camaro.

Or Stripe the entire car somewhat ignoring the vents in the Cali Dream hood?

Heres the only pics I could find to compare...

Its going in the shop tomorrow... decisions decisions

I'd stripe the whole thing...the stripes coming from the vents look too far apart. Pic 1 is fantastic!

Caleb,

So your body guy is gonna spray matte black stripes? Someday I'd like to have this done to replace my vinyl stripes. I am very, very interested to see your results to say the least. I'm in Texas, south of Austin, and might be looking to do the same. Is he spraying it on top of the clear coat? Or does he have another way? I have to find anyone that can spray any clear over it and keep the matte finish. I'd like to see pics of it as he's doing it if you were planning on taking pics.

Sorry for the self interest but I really want to have this done myself, but can't find anyone here to do it.

As to the question at hand. I'd go with the first two pics. I know not many here will say that, but the stripes spread so far apart to match the vents on the Cali Dream hood just look wrong to me. No offense to anyone here, but I don't like it. Especially if you're planning on doing the roof and the trunk lid. Just Shelby stripe is front to back and post lots of pics.

Then give me the name and number of the guy so I can do the same.

I'd come right out of the scoops like the third picture- possibly with some pinstripes on either side of both stripes, and possibly some freestyle pinstiping done within the stripes in a subtly contrasting color.

O man I'm so torn... I'm leaning more and more to the full stripes... what are the diminssions on the Shelby stripes? I really don't like the super thin stripes.

Gary... Where do you live south of Austin? I'm actually moving to San Marcos this next weekend. And I have absolutely no idea how he's planning on putting the stripes on but I'll ask and get as many pics as I can.

Its wierd I"m not a huge fan of stripes in general but the matte black just looks sick period.

If I go full stripes.... this width and spacing is pretty close... what do you think this is 12in & 2in spacing?

I think those 12in stripes with the 2in spacing would look much better than starting at the hood vents, especially if they're gonna carry onto the roof and decklid... Either way, I can't wait to see some pics.

Well guys, I decided to go full stripes... 12in with 1in gap... Hes also going to powder coat my wheels flat black to match the stripes. I cannot wait to see it done... I wish I could do the Roush Fascia right now too.

Does anybody happen to know someone selling a roush front fascia in Dallas??

Funny story here.... write after I put in my previous post, my buddy calls me and says he still doesn't think its going to look right, and the shop guys agree. He said he had no problem doing it, but that he thought the vented ones would look better. I'm still thinking the full stripes will look better lol

I must have missed this post.

I live about 90 minutes south of San Marcos in Victoria.

You going to school or grad school there? I don't know anybody that moves to San Marcos other than going to school. I think when its summer break, the size of the town shrinks to half its population.

haha this is very very true. Actually kind of a weird story. I'm finishing my last class for my degree from UT, but its online, so I've been living at home in Dallas. This was ok at first, but now is driving me insane. Sooo, I went down last week to visit one of my buddies in San Marcos who is basically in the same boat I am. While I was down there the apartment complex he works for offered me a job, so we're getting a almost free apartment (because of the job) and we'll be outta there in June and on our way to LA. I'll be pursuing a film production career and he'll be trying to get into sales.

So in short lol, I guess you could call it a last horah before I REALLY hit the real world.

By no means would I ever want to permenetly live in San Marcos, but I've got a lot of friends down there and in Austin, so for a few months, it'll work. And our place has a pool view

I don't think the stripes in the middle of the vents look right, as if you are forcing the fit...

Don't know if it would look right or not but what about a matte black super snake stripe, unless your just dead set on those.

Def thought about it as well, but I could not find any pics at all. This is also an option.

I'm with Gary on this one - I tried really hard to find someone who would spray flat black and stand behind it, and never did. Can't wait to see how yours came out!
