buying splash guards
All you need are four washers and an offset phillps screw driver. You won't have to pull your tires using the offset phillips driver. The job should take less than 15 mins. The screws already attached to the rear quarter are long enough install your splash guards with.
The Stainless Steel washers I used were 1/8 or 3/16 i.d. and 5/8 o.d.. They were left over from some other project I worked on a few years ago. Think I got em at Home Depot. I'd bring along one of the screws from the bumper. Well, after you get it out with the offset screw driver.
I like how they seem to fit the wheel perfectly and that's the exact reason I want them, the mud looks Fugly with a black car and they help with the loose rubber when burning out
I ( very reluctantly ) put a set of those GT500 splash guards on mine. Rear tires are so wide that they completely vanish and you cannot even tell they are there.
They will only fit the GT/CS. If you look at the photos in post #5 you will see the regular GT Bumper has a bump out where as the GT500 splash guard does not. You would have to cut/modify the GT500 splash guards to fit the regular GT bumper.
They fit fine.
No gaps. They do stick down a little, but nothing compaired to "mud flaps". Don't get me wrong, I am certainly not in love with them by any means but as wide of a tire as I run on the rear I had to do something.
I bought the Shelby flaps also and found out that they do bolt up using the same holes but only the textured surface is supposed to show. The smooth suface is just the mating surface to the GT/CS bumper and the hole for the clip should be hidden by the bumper when its mounted. I was going to modify them to fit and just re- drill the holes and do some trimming to make it look right but i put that little project on hold because I might be installing the GT/CS bumper anyway
