Bracket for Center fogs
Bracket for Center fogs
Ok just wanted to know if anyone has come up with a solid way to attach a pony to the center foglight grill, and what year of pony emblem would work? i want to know because i am thinking about buying one but i want a good solid way of adding the pony emblem without using JUST 3M tape
I assume you are wondering how to attach a tri-bar running pony emblem? If so here's what I did.
I purchased a grill emblem for a 68 shelby from scott drake thru Mustangs Unlimited. This emblem is the right size and it is made from metal rather than plastic as some of the reproduction ones are. I went to the parts store and bought some JB Weld and bolt long enough to protrude thru the grill and some nuts and a large flat washer and a lock washer. I then went home and double checked the depth for the bolt and used the JB Weld to secure the head of the bolt to the back of the emblem. I used a liberal amount of the stuff to be sure it was a good bond with plenty of surface coverage. Let the mixture set up the appropriate amount of time. I let it stand overnight. When you are sure its cured take your emblem and new bolt and stick it thru the grill opening and secure with the flat washer lock washer and nut. I used two nuts on mine to double nut one against the other to ensure it wouldn't back off over time. Some locktite would probably work just as well. Just tighten the setup until you are confident it is secure. And whala your set. Mine is very solid I have complete confidence that it will remain in place for as long as I own the car. Hope the info helps.

I have the metal emblem that's for the 65-68 fender on my Street Scene center fog grille. I cut the posts off of it, and put 2 pieces of 3M tape on the back of it to stick it to the grille. It's been on there since last summer (in the FL heat) and hasn't budged since. A trip up to Birmingham and back, a few trips to Orlando and back, and 50 miles round trip every day - no problems here.
even though it sticked i am still afraid of it falling off, i mean i do not care about the side or rear because it has alot of surface area to hold on to but the grill has very small lines that do not offer much, that is why i would feel safer with some 3M tape and a bracket
Ira, sounds like you have the same fear that I had. Just use the bolt/JB Weld way or if you want to be extra sure do it like GRAYPNY did in his pic. you will be satisfied with either I am sure.
Post some pics when you get it done. We all are closet voyers you know.... we wanna see it man!
The ride looks good Ira! I dig the hood pins.
Nope. Mine is a 3dCarbon grill. Which is very similar to the SS. It's funny, two other guys here in the local Mustang club have the center light grills, all purchased from different places and we noticed today that they are all a little different. Mine (3d Carbon) has the lights very close together and the other two fellas lights are spread further apart one guys more than the other. No modification necessary just popped the old one out and popped the new one in. Much more difficult to fab up the pony emblem than it was to install the grill.
Ira, I like the side stripe. What made you decide on the 460 text? Are we planning to get blown.......?
