Boss Tribute almost done
I'm cleaning the car up tomorrow and will take a TON of pics at the car show on Saturday. The replacement C-stripes were reordered and will get applied on Monday or Tuesday. I'll probably wait until spring to get the car lowered, the 18" Magnum 500 knockoffs, tires and louvers for the rear glass. I'm still not sure about the 1/4 window louvers, and am waiting to see if somebody has something that will REPLACE the glass with a real louvered insert.
I think the original 1969 Boss 302 theme works pretty good on my Torch Red 2005, and have already convinced the wife to let me get a cheap economy car for the daily commute. This baby needs garaged during the day! I have the '86 to refurbish all fall and winter, so I won't be bored.
The body shop guy is buying one of these for himself. He couldn't get over how well it all came off.

Looks good.
I think the hood needs something though -- Boss 429 style scoop perhaps?

Now, that being said, I'm probably going to replace the hood next year with either the Steeda cowl hood or one of the RKSport hoods. The car is just a blank canvas, you know...

Looks great. I've been looking around for a shop to paint my hood when I get it. Hows the service?

If you're in the area, I assume you're going to the Mason Dixon Dragway this Saturday for the big Ford show? I'll have my car entered. Son wants me to drag but I don't feel like cleaning the rubber off the rear fenders...

Pretty good. Including the attempt with the stripes, it took them 3.5 days to paint the hood stripe, wet sand and clear coat twice, and the same with the rear spoiler and taillight area. For some odd reason they didn't bag the wipers during prep, so I had to manually q-tip out the debris from between things, but there's nary a scratch on any surface. All newly painted areas are like glass, and the whole shop was enthused with the project. My son and I are refurbishing an 86 GT, and will take it there to get the body panels worked on and painted once we find all the trim pieces.

Looks great John.
That's the most acurate Boss replica I've seen so far... except for the gloss black paint. I think it would've looked much better to copy the original matte finish.
But, hey, it's not my car.
Can't wait to see the "C" stripe. What's it going to say?

For now, I'm leaving "GT" in between the two halves of the "C". I posted a while back asking about alternative emblems, and so far I've found a few, but the ones that I have the most interest in seem to be in development. One is a decal that says "Boss 281", but it would require filling and sanding the holes from the GT emblem. Another is a plastic emblem with the old V symbol with "High Performance 281". I'm leaning towards that. But again, neither is ready for production yet. I've found a couple of sites too:

Ah well, even with the stripes I have a bit to go, regarding rear glass louvers, the Magnum 500 wheel knockoffs, and a bit more kick under the hood.
