Thumbs up Black Chrome Bullitts from AFS -> Done

Greetings Guys/Gals,

As you know, I have been contemplating these rims for a while, and I finally 2 weeks ago pulled the trigger.

Thanks to Jamie and Lance @ Eastgate Ford in Hamilton, ON
for doing an awsome job. I was going to say bangup job, but that wouldn't be appropriate for rims

Jamie's a huge stangnut and he did a terrific job mounting/balancing the rims/tires
-----------------------------------
Ordered the Rims directly from AFS
Specs: 2005+ Mustang GT Black Chrome Bullitt replica Rim
18 x 9.0 Inch
Lug Pattern 5 - 4.5
Back Spacing 6.55
Offset +38
Centercaps included (although 99-04 Mustang centercaps fit which I used)

Ordered the Tires from Tire Rack
Specs: BFGoodrich G-Force KDW2s (or NewTread) 255/45ZR18
Uh that's about it for specs.

--------------------------
I cannot explain to you how COOL they look in person!

Picture's do NOT capture the reflective/silver nature of this rim.
I LOVE this look.....

I've seen a lot of shots where the black chrome looks glossy black.
It's not really like that in person... on this rim I attribute that to the fact that there are really no flat spots...they are all curved ...

Took them for a spin...
More road noise and feel...but very tight.
It feels great to be back on a 255 (had them on my 02)
These tires GRIP... and coupled with my Ford Racing strut brace ...wow... she is PLANTED
Braking was a bit different..obviously....
as its a heavier car now by a bit.
I got rid of some weight (15lbs...) with the Borla exhaust.
I just gained those back at least with these tires ... hehe

Weighed in at 52lbs each,
and the stockers are between 45-48 from what I've read.

Questions or comments welcome....

Thanks for reading

They look really great! The car would look even better lowered a little, is that in your future plans?

We'll see.
I didn't plan on it, but it could use it.

Galaxie and I talked about his before,
how more rim/less rubber ... even though same size as before, just looks like the gap is bigger, when its really not.

I am actually a leo

But the colour itself, some get it, some don't....

I get bugged at work a lot, but when people see it in person,
their tone sometimes changes.

These rims just set the colour off too...

Is it wrong to just want to go out and look at the car for hours?

Next up, .... CDC Classic Chin spoiler

Agreed, the wheels look sweet. I've had mine for about 7 months now and experienced some quality issues. I had a problem with the finish "darkening" on a couple of the wheels. They almost looked burnt. I had to send them back to be replaced. Not sure what caused it but keep an eye on them.

You should consider lowering. I dropped mine and inch and the wheels complement the car so much more now. Nice ride.

Hey Tech,
Could they explain why the finish changed?
Normal occurance?

I'll keep an eye on it...but now you're scaring me

I did notice on the box though, that the rims were pretty much manufactured at different dates.
One unmarked, one in may, and 2 in nov of 05... so it wasn't like they were just made.

I'm wondering if you had some quality issues with some early builds or something. I don't know how long these rims have been around.

I'm just talking out loud...ignore me

Hey Pete, BEAUTIFUL, can't wait to see 'em in person. You just can't beat the Bullitt design for "the look" and the BC finish just makes them all the better. Super choice.

Talk to ya soon - and Congrats !!! Mark

No, they couldn't explain. They asked me if I park it on the street as dogs tend to pee on car wheels, which would have caused a tarnishing. I don't, so I threw that theory out the window. Here is a pic that I sent them. It may not be as noticable in the picture as it was in person.

I had a problem on my first delivery from AFS where the chrome was "running" or sagging in spots on two of the wheels, so I sent them back. The two they sent me back may be the ones that tarnished or the ones that didn't, I will never know.
