I borrowed some 20" Black Bullits from a buddy to see how they would look on my car. The pictures of his car and my car (the Performance White vert) can be seen here:

20" Rim Pictures

These rims are 20x8.5" with a 24mm offset and are mounted on 255/35ZR20 Nitto 555 tires.

Personally, I don't like the way the calipers and rotors look "smaller" on the 20 inch rims, so I was thinking about getting the same tire in the 18" version.

The 18's would be 18x9" with a 36" offset and would be mounted on 255/45ZR18 Nitto 555's and would give the exact same height as the 20 inch tires. With this offset, the tire and rim would be .222" more under the fenderwell, which I also like.

The price is the same with the 20" or the 18" package. The 18" rims are cheaper, but the 18" tires are less popular (less demand, higher price).

I'm looking for any opinions or comments. Plus, if anybody has the 18" version of the black bullets mounted on 255/45-18 tires, I would love to see some pictures!!

Thanks!

Depends on the look you are going for. Without lowering the car (spring kit), the 20's don't look balanced to me. And they have to ride like beasts.

I say 18's with correct offset (no spacers). Then maybe lower the car (may need an adjustable panhard rod as well to correctly position the rear axle.)

The 18's would look better no matter what, but with that pre-'05 offset (24mm) the 20's would look even worse than usual, IMO.

18's blah blah blah. Go for the 20's these cars look good with bigger wheels. Why be like 90% of the people on this board. I think the car looks great, now those 20's will weigh a ton, but its a vert so I doubt you are racing much.

That's another reason why I like the 36mm offset on the 18x9's (since they will be a tad more tucked in under the fenderwell). I want the center cap like your avatar, though... I don't like the Cobra since I don't have a, well, Cobra. Know where I can get a center cap like your avatar and the size I need?

About 1/4" more tucked in under the fenderwell should look great! I probably won't lower it, but I already need an adjustable panhard bar the way it is from the factory. The driver's side tire is out more than the passenger side (much more noticeable with the 20's so I may let it go with the 18's since it's only 1/8" or so off).

Take a look at the pics in my sig. I have 18x9 FR500 replicas and they also have a +36mm offset. I have PLENTY more pics from all angles if you want any.

As for the center cap, it depends on who makes the wheels. If you're getting the same ones MustangTuning, MRT, and most of the other guys sell, those are made by the same company that made mine, WheelReplicas. The one from the 01(?)-04 Mustang GT Bullitt wheels fits perfect (see sig) and you can probably find a set on eBay pretty cheap. Mine were $60.

Otherwise, you could go with Ford's black 18" Bullitt's and the cap in my avatar would work.

EDIT: Mustang Tuning has brand new caps on sale this month. $50 a set.

are you buying the actual wheels from your buddy or are you thinking of buying the same ones but new? if your going to get new ones you can get the 20's with the correct offset and back spacing so they tuck nicely under the fenders. also the 255-35- tires dont ride as bad as people THINK they do, i say think because most people who talk about how bad they will ride have never owned or even drivin a car with those tires. it also depends on the brand tire in that size as to how they will ride. i have a 255-30-22 yes 22 on my 05 and the ride is awsome

yeah and you can also get those 22" rims with LED lights and video pictures too!
If only someone would now put a 24" rim on these muscle cars I can then say I have seen it all!!

These retro-styled cars do not look so very good with pimp rims - so don't buy bigger than an 18" rim!!!

What's the correct offset for a 20x8.5" rims... more like 30mm? The ride isn't bad, but it feels like the car is lowered now (feels a little stiffer and you feel more bumps).

I have definitely decided to get the 18x9" rims with the proper 36mm offset. What tires do you have? I'm either going to get the Nitto 555's like he has or the Kumho ECSTA ASX.

See this post HERE if you want to help be decide on tires!

Thanks for the replies!

have you even takin the time to look at the wheels on my car? they are in no way shape or form "pimp"style or "bling bling" style. they are zenetti wheels which is a company known for making stylish and sporty wheels for cars. now if i had 22 inch lexani wheels then ya you might call those "pimp" style rims. the only difference in my 22 inch wheels and the same style in an 18 inch is i would rather see a little more wheel and a little less ugly black rubber stuff surrounding them.

Just by being 22's they are bling, IMO. They don't look good on a Mustang, IMO.
As for the ride quality going down, it doesn't take riding in one to know that if there's a difference with 18's (and there is) there's even more of a difference with 22's. And that's a fact, not an opinion as my first 2 statements were.

Got them... I just put the left rear on to see how they would look. The offset (ended up being 38mm) on these 18x9" rims is perfect!

Also, I had the camera on the lowest setting by mistake on the first 5 pictures, so the quality is crappy:

Looks great, Tom.
So which Bullitts did you get? You asked about center caps, what are you going to use?

I bought these from AFS on eBay. They look wonderful and seem to be really high quality:

I also bought the same tires you have (255/45ZR18 BF Goodrich KDW's).

I got the center caps from Mustang Tuning and they fit perfectly! Now I'll sell the AFS Cobra caps on eBay and maybe I'll get my $50 back... they're $65 from AFS:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=8060387528

I'm putting the wheels on tomorrow, so I'll be able to post some final pics.

I wish the caps had the chrome ring around the edge like your avatar, but the pony caps I got are still better than the cobra ones, since the car isn't a cobra.
