I painted my brake calipers today. Turned out really nice.

So, you did it yourself? Can I ask what type of paint, how much disassembly, etc.?

Looks very good.

Looks great... nice job

I'll likely go red on mine, once I add new wheels and tires (wouldn't be able to see much with the stock "upgrade" rims).

Did you use a high temp paint? Is it designed specifically for calipers? Just curious cause I want to do both of my Mustangs

Seems like the standard has been to use off the shelf caliper painting kits.

I didn't use the kit....its basically high temp paint in a can with a brush.

I used the high temp engine paint from Kragen Auto. The hardest part is masking off the rotors and such. But onec you mask everything off, its simply spray painting them. I did my last car, with red...and the paint lasted 60k miles+ without flaking or such.

took about 2 hours total....to get the car jacked up...removing the wheels....masking...painting....drying time...and then putting everything back together.

that looks great! I think painted calipers add such a nice touch to cars.
I just wish I had a garage so I could do this myself.

I'm very happy with mine - glad to see another Dark Horse rider do the same with the black on black......

don't need a garage Kevin. Make sure it's a nice day. just get some place out of the wind, mask everything off and go to town!

I don't have a garage either, just a nice sunny day.

Click on brake calipers in my sig for more info on the paint.

Love the blue as well... very nice.

Do you guys have separate equipment to jack the car up, or did you just use the jack that comes with it and do them 1 at a time?

Hey Dave - that's at least 3 of us with black calipers on a black GT - I did mine a ways back when I installed my aftermarket wheels/tires!

Hey Rich - I have very nearly identical aftermarket bullit style rims (polished lip with graphite spokes) and was able to get the Ford running pony center caps to fit - great improvement and would look nice on your wheels too.....plus yours would fit without any customizing needed!

On the contrary...

However, you can see the paint on the rear wheels, but you won't be able to see any decals.

I got mine from an ebay auction. The guy's website is

http://www.xenonmods.com

I think others have gotten decals from him too. I got mine real quick. And he gave me extras incase I messed them up.
