If you stay in the city and/or fairly close to radio station transmitters, you will likely still have good reception with the shorty antenna. Take a road trip and get out in the boonies and you will probably find that your reception suffers terribly.
Not dissing the shorty antenna ( I have a shorter than stock antenna myself )....just letting you know what to expect if you ever intend to travel with it.
