I'm getting stripes this week. I've just finished washing the car. Should I go ahead and wax the car or leave it as is until the stripes are on? I'm assuming the vinyl should not have the wax layer between it and the paint. Any help appreciated.

Don't wax it before laying the vinyl down. Actually, use a little Dawn dishwashing soap before laying the vinyl down.

My striper suggested not waxing it before I got my vinyl stripes. They'd just have to strip it off the areas they're striping. I'd rather not have them stripping wax off my car, it's just raises the chances of them screwing it up. I just waited until after I got them.

Thanks all, I didn't wax. I'm getting them put on tommorrow morning. I'm going to wash it once more with Dawn tonight. I'll wax after they are done.

Before the shop installs them let them know that you have not waxed the car and you used dawn. That way they won't go and use a wax remover, which is not necessary since you have performed the proper "prep" steps.

Since I am getting close to 4,000 posts, and not even a moderator, I think I will need to sell my computer soon
