Bad experience with RT Tire
Anyone else ordered wheels from www.rttire.com? I placed an order last week for a set of black shelby razors with them through their eBay store. While checking out, it was recommended I get their lug/stem kit which would be required. Instead of taking the order there on eBay, took me to their website. Not an easy order but got it done. Got an email from them confirming shipment but sSaw no progress on their site about the order process so I called. Was told that the guy that updated the site wasn't in at them moment, but if I got the email I should see the rims by Monday (yesterday). Waited all day for an update on the site, still nothing, so I called back to request a tracking number. This time I was told the website guy was on vacation, and the guy I was talking to didn;t know where the tracking # was, but still expect them rims on Monday.
Monday came, and the rims showed up as promised. Alot of stress for nothing right??? Nope! No lugs/stems included in the shipment!!!
Called back, and still, no web guy, but this time was told that the kits were backordered. Asked me to hold, then came back and said he was on hold with the shipper and would call back.
Called back to tell me that when the kits are backordered, the supplier ships them direct, but they didn't. Then told me in the meantime he got some in stock and was shipping them out that night and would send me an email with tracking info.
Guess what??? No email!!! So I guess I'll be back on the phone today to get another story.
I realize this may not seem like that big of a deal when reading it, but my tires, which I ordered from another company AND received all tracking info, will be here today and I have already made an appointment to have them mounted. The place will normally take walk-ins, but because I am looking to have the TPMS sensors swapped I needed to make an appt and leave the car.
So here is the bittersweet. I get to look at my new rims since they are sitting next to me in their boxes, which is nice, but I have to look at my new rims because they are sitting in their boxes (instead of getting them on my car), which sucks!!!

I got my rims, tires, lugnuts and static balanced from them and recieved them quickly. I had to have them rebalanced at the tire rack because of severe steering wheel shake. They covered the cost of that.
When I ordered them I asked about balancing them and they said yep they will be balanced..... but they didn't say static balance. I think they are a few years behind in the balancing dept. All in all a pretty good deal I guess. If your buying a tire and wheel combo from any where make sure they spin balance and not static balance them.

Thanks for the reply Glenn. I did not order the combo since I needed to have my sensors swapped to the new rims. I'm just suprised at how little communication they seem to have, and how if one guy is out none of the orders can be verified or tracking information given. And the lugs backordered, then supposed to be shipped from the supplier, then magically in stock again, but no tracking info still????
oh boy I was actually thinking of ordering a set of the Shelby Redlines from these guys. Im getting lugnuts locally so I shouldnt have an issue witht hat. How was the condition of the actual rims themselves? How quick was the shipping time?
Rims are perfect! And the shipping, although a complete secret, was fast. Ordered last wednesday night, got a shipping confirmation email on thursday and they arrived yesterday. As for the rest, I spoke with them earlier, they are having the lugs drop-shipped from Allentown which should get them to me by tomorrow. Not sure I like the shadiness, but at least now I am getting some answers and hopefully some progress.
Yeah, I suggest ordering from them over the phone...that is what I did and it was quick and painless. The guy was very nice and even took the price off of the tires that I would have had to send in as a mail in rebate.
Fair enough, should have called to confirm stock, but considering the runaround I got WHEN I called, not sure if things would have been any better.
All that said, they DID resolve the issue, and while I think the idea that they were very reluctant to give out any information initially, I am completely satisfied with the way they took care of things and got me the parts I ordered.
Not dropping the entire blame on them... I'm one of those guys that wants what he wants when he wants it, and I'm sure that didn't help the situation.
I have no problem admitting when I am wrong, and again, not sure they handled things properly initially, after poking and proding for the real information, I would have no problem recommending them and purchasing from them again. Probably too old to change my ways at this point, but my initial reaction about this experience thankfully was not how it ended.
