Anyone running 17 inch wheels on their GT?*

I was wondering if anyone was running 17's on their GT? I went with 18's and now I'm thinking about getting some 17's and putting sticky summer tires on them and keeping the 18's for cooler weather.

Stock 17" with my setup. I didn't notice any difference with my 18" stock tires. The 18" are much nicer looking, but are heavier.

Mine came with 17's.. felt alittle difference in going from them to the GT500 wheels & tires due to the weight, but she handles alot better.

I still have the OEM Alum Split Spoke 17's with less then 10k miles on them. If you're interested shoot me a PM.

When car was still street-driven, we had 10.5 deep dish 17s on rear. Had M&H 325 on them. Very sticky, a better strip tire than street tire.

I've come close to buying an 18" combo but for now I'm still on stock 17" wheel and Pirelli tire setup.

So what rims are you looking at Rich?? I am seriously considering some 17 inch Racestars when they get released next month.

I'm still on stock 17x8 wheels as well, and while I'd like to stick with 17's, there just aren't very many summer performance tires available in 17" S197 sizes, and of the few that are available, none are the top tier "Extreme Performance" really sticky summer tires like the Dunlop Star Spec, Bridgestone RE-11, Kumho XS, or Yokohama AD08. You either have to drop down to 17" SN95/New Edge sizes or move up to 18's.

Geez Doug! You've already switched to the CS wheels - now you want to replace them?!?!

Yep

I am getting some drag radials regardless, but still going back and forth if I want to just swap out my rear tires or just swap out everything for some Racestars. I am even considering the 15s for a real retro look with a ton of sidewall!

I bought a set of OEM polished 17X8 inch bullit wheels for $499 shipped and I am mounting 255/50 Nitto extreme 555's on them. I want to change up my wheels every now and then and I wanted a smaller wheel with more sidewall. More of the old school look but I doubt that they will like my 4:10's.

I got these at buyfordracing.com but it was the last set. Blue Oval Industries has them for around $110 each (on sale) + shipping. I think it's a great looking wheel. It looks just like the 18X8.5 polished bullit 64W that was an option on the 2007+ GT.

I have 17x9 cobra r replicas on mine, I like them but to be honest I wish I would have gotta bigger rims and tires. I have been looking for a set of used 18 bullet rims and tires.

I got the wheels in today and had the Nitto 555's mounted up on them. So these are going to be my summer wheels/tires 17X8 255/50 and the others will be my winter combo 18X9 255/45. Sorry cell phone pictures and it was raining.

Those 17" polished bullitts would look sweet with a polished SHR rear medallion.
