anyone put the "ford" emblem on the hood?
tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything. does anyone have pictures of an s197 mustang with the "f"-"o"-"r"-"d" emblem along the front of the hood? like how the mustangs of the 60's were.
thinking about doing that next, but was just curious to see what it looked like on our model year body type.
thanks in advance.

Think the 3rd picture link in this thread has the shot of the ford lettering on the hood.

I put the F O R D letters on my hood before hail damaged my car on Mother's Day. I have not put them back on yet because I am anticipating a black stripe for the hood. I got mine from CJ Pony Parts...

That example in that link is hideous... It looks like chromed playschool alphabet letters that you stick on the fridge.
The ones I use are authentic reproduction parts used for classic Mustangs. They stick on.

Won't they fit on the front edge?? Just think they'd blend better there. I have the MUSTANG Letters out back and was going to do FORD up front, but want them on the edge, not the top, of the hood.
Also: are those the Scott Drake one's??

Back when I had my Cobra II I built a wood front air dam like the King Cobras and the 1979 Pace Car had with every intention of fiberglassing and finishing it. I looked like a fool driving around with unfinished wood on the front of my car.

None of the classic Mustangs have an edge on the front of the hood, so the placement I had represents the same area that it used on the classic models. I really don't think it would look good for the letters to be placed on the front beveled edge of the newer model's hood. It would just look like they were put in the wrong place like some bodyshop repairmen will do because they have no clue or don't care if nameplates go back in the right place after a car is repaired.
Also my letter spacing uses the pony corral as a guide for letter spacing. The "O" and "R" are lined up just inside the ends of the corral.
The spaced out FORD letters only appear on the hoods of 1965-68 models as well as all Mustang II's...
I plan to do a black Mach 1 style stripe at some point so I will probably not return the FORD letters to my hood. I only like it on a solid color hood.

Hmm... I think it looks alright on the classic Mustangs, but on the S197's, it looks a little out of place. Good idea, but some things from older models shouldn't be carried over...
