I'm thinking of hiding a key somewhere under the Mustang just in case I somehow lock myself out. I was thinking of having an inexpensive key (not chipped) cut to hide in order to just open the door.

Most thieves look for a hide a key first... I wouldnt use one unless you have LoJack on it.

you could make a cheap key just to open the door...... If you get one made, it will open the locks, It just will not start the car....

Right, but once the door is open, how hard is it for them to get it started? Not hard at all. Did you know it takes 16 seconds to cut through a steering wheel to get a lock off it?

I dont know much about the ignition system in the 05s, but, I know of an 03 that was stolen, by hot wire. Yeh, it had an alarm, and didnt do any good. Who listens to alarms anymore? They punch the ignition, and off they go.

I just wouldnt make it any easier. A passerby would more likely question someone breaking a window, than someone sitting in a car looking around with un broken windows.

I was just thinking that it would be pretty darn hard to lock yourself out. I NEVER use the key on my doors, havent in 6 years. If I leave the keys in the car, I would get out, and then go to lock it... via keyfob, and would realize my goof. Although, I gotta admit, I havent even left my keys in my car in about 10 years. The last time was when my daughter was an infant... locked the drivers side, when to get her out of her car seat, put the keys on the floor, took her out, locked the door, and slammed it shut... as it slammed I remembered my keys... too late.

It would be hard to get locked out of your '05. As long as you don't lose your keys that is.

It would be cheaper to call my wife to drive over with a spare than go through insurance to fix the car after someone found the hide-a-key and took it for a joy ride.

I agree, they give you two sets of keys/keyfobs for a reason.

***Please fill in your location*** (street address preferable )

Seriously though; AAA is only a few dollars a month, and they come with a heck of a lot of benifits, such as tire changes, opening locked doors, vacation discounts...etc...etc...

Just an idea.

Did 24hr roadside assistance not come with your car? They will come let you in for free if you lock yourself out.

So, how does that work, the locks cant be depressed manually? Do that require the keyfob to lock it? It would be cool if that was the case...

Mine came with 24 hr roadside assistance, and its cheaper than AAA, its FREE. I also have AAA, so, I am pretty well covered in that regard. I have used AAA more for others than for myself, LOL

B) Imagine this 05 I ordered is the first keyless entry for me. My wife had it in her last 3. About extra key, always have one in wallet or bag.
If someone want to take your car badly, they will find a way. Just make it harder. I just add a type of brake pedal lock! Happy Trails!!

The automatic locks do not function while the car is running. You can still manually lock it, but who uses manual locks??
