Anybody paint their factory wheels?

Before I order aftermarket wheels, I want to paint my useless optional factory wheels black. Anyone do this? Methods? Products? Thanx.

I'm thinking about doing mine.
If I do I will probably use Dupli-Color.
Take a look at their web site.
I've used them before and I found their paint to be top quality.

I did this to a set of 05 Bullits. Same prep as body work, just more time consuming. I used PPG 2 stage, with a bit of flex additive to retard chipping. Just bring the wheels to a reputable shop, cheaper than buying new ones.

have them powdercoated, its way better

costs more, but you wont find a better finish.

I am with Nate on this one, they will withstand the daily use better as well.

I understand, but I am not spending $350 when I can get it done for 20 bucks, and like I said before, I am not keeping these wheels, I am just doing this to hold me off until I get real aftermarket wheels.

I read that 1 guy painted his factory bullits black, left the rim edge polished. They didn't look bad from the pics, I'd be interested in how the paint held up. He sanded down the spokes & rim areas, sprayed black Krylon & followed w/clear Kryon. Sorry, can't find the thread now.

I had found out about the Duplicolor paint and clearcoat specifically for wheels after purchasing my black bullitts . Not a lot of colors to choose from, but black is definitely one that they have available. On one of the sites that I had viewed, someone had painted and clearcoated their wheels and stated that after a year they still looked good. I'm thinking about "practicing" on my stock silver painted bullitt wheels just to see how it will turn out.
