Another rim/tire question.

First I just want to apologize because I know this has been a topic before but I just can't really find exact info or pics for what I want. I have an 05 gt which I want to get new rims for. I don't want to spend a ton of money and would like to find some take offs. Everytime I search I seem to find a ton of rims that are available from 94-04 but not many take offs from 05-09. I have always liked the Cobra rims that came on the terminators, and also the saleen rims from the previous gen. The only wheels that interest me from my gen mustang are gt500's which seem to be a little out of my price range. (Usually around $900-$1200) I have found numerous terminator take of rims around the $500-$650 price range with tires. These are the style I really like. My question is If I were to buy a set how would they look? I have read numerous threads about this subject and know that the backspacing is different from gen to gen. But I can't seem to find any pictures of anyone that has actually Made the change. I have read that they may stick out too far. Again apologize for re-posting a similar thread and the long read, but I want to weigh all my options before making a decision. If anyone has any pics of someone who has tried the swap that would be awesome. Thanks in advance

I say get something different than those rims your looking for. There are so many out there already. That said have you checked newtakeoff.com?

Haven't even heard of that? I'll check it out thanks. My whole reason for wanting something like that is price. They are affordable and still look good. Also I can fit wider tires on them. I've read that they will stick out some. I was hoping someone would have pics who's tried a setup like this

the pre 05 rims in 8.5 sit pretty flush maybe just a bit over. But your not gaining much width to go wider tires, 275s and thats it. The GT500s can be found below 900 you just have to jump on them pretty quick. And thats 9.5 with the 45 offset that sits flush to just inside. Unless your pressed for new tires I would save some more money to find the wheel you want. talk to some local guys and see if any of them will let you test fit one of their rims. Doesnt have to be the exact rim, just the same width and offset.

Thanks for the info. I know I can't go much wider but I'm also not sure what size I want to do yet. Maybe 275's all around or a staggered look? ...dunno yet... Thanks for the feedback though I'll try to find a rim this size to test fit and see for myself I guess

I use ebay all the time. Check thier feedback numbers. If they have a feedback of around 800 or better I feel pretty safe doing biz with them.

this guy looks pretty ligit but only has 12 feedback replies all pos. I
would pass unless I could go pick them up.

my feedback is 1139 100%.

Yea I mean I've known people who have used them for smaller things but never car parts really lol. I just hear horror stories sometimes about people who pay their payment and never receive their product. And I heard it's a hassle to try to get any type of refund. I am very weary of scammers lol. I was toying around on there and came across a distributor called OEwheels? Has anyone from TMS used them? I looked up reviews and it was so up and down. People either loved it or said it was the worst place ever? Dunno?

If they have mixed reviews I wouldn't use them. I bought two sets of wheels off of ebay. I also use paypal and from I have seen they are on the buyers side and generally get your money back if there's a problem. Again only use people with a high feedback rating and as long as they have 98 or 99% good feedback I think you will be in good shape. I have always had good luck that way.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to scope it out and read some reviews.

Took a bit of creative searching in Google (03 Cobra Rims S197) and came up with these:

http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...ml#post7524157

That stang has the stock 03 17x9" Cobra rims on the back. You can see how they fit.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ml#post1415884

This one looks to have '03 Replica rims in an 18x9" size. The wheel looks to be slightly larger than the previous image. My guess is that these are the no longer produced AFS machined face Cobra rims. They were the only company that I could find that produced the machined face rims (like stock). Everyone else has them just in chrome only.

This one is running the Mach 1 style rims from AFS, in the correct offset for the S197.

Wow awesome find. Thanks for the research I appreciate it. I found a couple pics myself but all these are new to me. I think I've decided that I really like the look of them. I'm going to start a search for some take offs most likely. I don't have a Ton to spend so I'd like to find a take off pair to avoid buying new tires right away. Thanks again
