Thumbs up

I finally bought the CDC Aggressive chin. I am curious if anyone has this yet how did you get it painted? It seems impossible to have to it painted without first attaching it to the car. I am curious if my paint shop will have to paint the entire front facia after its installed? There is a piece that surrounds where the grill was that it just flimsy plastic and I would not see how it could be pre painted.

Post Pics for those of us thinking about this.

Also, what kind of front fresca mods are needed for this?

Will get a pick of just the part when I get off work in an hour so you can see what I am talking about.

Here is a link to the install instructions:

http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/tech_...ggrespolier.pdf

You remove the lower grill and have to cut around where it connected up so that you dont have plastic squares sticking out.

I am thinking of getting one and painting it black (doing the whole 69' Boss 281 clone thing).

This thing looks like a wet noodle. Even the cheapo spoiler the kid across the street bought for his honda looks more substantial than that....what gives?

I didn't look at the install doc, but it looks like you remove the black, lower grill, slip the spoiler in there, remount the grill to hold it steady, and screw where needed.

Well I went to three different places today to get some quotes on this. 1 guy wouldn't even touch it. He said he could in no way guarantee the paint would hold up.

Second guy said he could do it for 600. He would have to repaint the entire bumper.

Third guy said he would it for 700. He said the 3M tape would not hold up to the wind and said it needed to be molded into the bumper and then repainted.

All of em said the spoiler itself could not be painted separate from the car because it is too flimsy.

Mine is sitting in its box in the same pitiful state. I'm still deciding if I want to cut up my brand new bumper to install it.

I was planning on going the black route as others have stated. I've got some SEM Vinyl dye that I used for some interior items for another car. I was going to use that. The SEM stuff is flexible unlike paints. So I think I can apply it before I attach it to the car. That's my plan for right now.

If you wanted a matching color I guess you will have to paint it first.

I am glad now that I went with the classic design I too couldnt bare the thoughts of having to cut into my bumper. As far as getting it painted it doesnt look to much different than mine was other than that "really flexible" part on the top. My body shop painted mine for 70 dollars and didnt have to paint it on the car. The 3m tape still came out perfect after painted.
Good luck in finding someone to treat you fairly on price

Man, that stinks. I would send it back and get the classic chin spoiler. I personally think it looks better anyway. And definitely cheaper/easier to paint.

I dont like the classic one at all. I'll just end up pay the $700 to get molded into the bumper.

Thx for the link and the pics.

As far as it not staying on I don't buy it. I don't think it has to be molded into the fender.

I see why he has to paint the hold fender. Since it has to be on to paint then you can't just mask the unpainted part (I guess).

EDIT - They guy who wants to "mold" it. Did he know that it has 5 screws holding it on?

Here's a terrible pic with my phone. The part does not fit right and theres a nice gap along with some other fitment problems. From a distance I think it looks cool. I didn't go with the molding ... wish that I had. I will take better pics in the morning.

Ok..that gap on the side doesn't bother me but the top where it connects looks terrible (sorry, I'm not trying to pour salt in the wound).

I thought that had 3M tape to keep that tight?

ouch I see what you mean. You should have test fitted first. Then if it didn't fit CDC would have done something about it. Too late now that it is painted.
