Has anyone seen paintable aftermarket mirrors for the new mustangs? Or is the best option for body color mirrors to paint the existing ones. If you have painted yours did you sand the bumps off first? How well is the paint sticking to the plastic? Just about ready to get them painted and I want to do it right. Thanks

I had mine painted at a local paint shop for $125.00... The finish is a smooth as the factory paint on the rest of my car... I believe they primed them first with a special plastic primer, followed by two other sanding/priming steps to smooth out the mirrors... Then they applied the final finishing paint and clearcoat...

Have you noticed the any chipping on the Mirrors at all?? I wanted to do this but they advised me not to because they said the paint wouldn't take very well.

I know Street Scene was thinking about fabricating a set of smaller mirrors but the last I heard of that was months ago. I hope someone comes out with some smaller mirrors soon!

I had mine sanded down and painted as well. I sent mine to a local body shop to be done, so if you wanted to do it yourself I couldn't tell you how hard it would be. After their sanded the mirrors have to be painted with a special primer that helps the paint stick to it. It's been almost a month now and the paint still looks like it came from the factory, no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for the feedback. My local shop did the same and they are smooth and look like factory as well.
