I dont even like the concept anymore, too slab-sided, the prodo has curves
You should be for saying such a thing about the concept.....but i'll settle it for just a in the face......

I prefer the concept's door and 1/4 window vents, though I like the concept hood a lot, I prefer my 1968 hood with the reverse nostrils and blinkers

The concept doesn't even appeal to me anymore or maybe its just me. I like the production model better, altough I do love the front end of the concept better. Hopefully the new cobra will somewhat look like the concept's front. The hood on the concept is

the irony is that the production model was actually designed BEFORE the concept model.

Here is why I feel so strongly about the concept hood. Many 05 GT'ers like the grill on the V6... the fog lights are too big and they stand out drawing attention away from the rest of the car. I think when you have the concept hood and the standard GT grill, the nostrils will draw attention away from the fogs. Not to mention the '68 Shelby looked sweet with the hole thingies in the hood!

I liked the Concept better, just more finely done in the detailing, cleaner and just a touch more artistry evident in the lines. But then again, it doesn't have to face the demands of volume production. The '05 is, however, reasonably close to the concept, if a touch busier and a bit compromised for production demands, but well done.

I imagine we might well see a Concept style hood in some later factory SE version, perhaps the Cobra.

I love the 05 but when the final production version was exposed I was not to happy about the shape of the front bumper. I still think it does not quite fit in with the rest of the car, which looks awesome. Yes it would look better with the nostrils on the hood and if it had a bumper closer to what the concept has which has more curves in it. The production bumper looks to have too many sharp edges especially near the side marker lights. It tends to look somewhat awkward from the side view. Can anyone chop a new bumper on the production 05? Maybe they will work this out if they come out with the Shelby in 06 or 07?

Well, I loved the concept when I saw it. But then I saw the production version at Detroit and absolutely LOVED it!

I was definitely amazed by the close resemblance of the production version to the concept car but I must say that I think the prodo version is even BETTER!

I know - here, I'll do it to myself: But still - I DO!

As far as the hood goes, if an aftermarket would have the dimensions of the '67 Shelby hood, I would buy it. But a pair of skinny little vents with no vertical rise to me is not attractive.

My absolute favorite hood is in my avatar - the Mach hood! I hope to see one of them soon. I'm not a fan of the huge cowl and such but to each his own.

Either way, the '05 Mustang will be killer no matter what!

I'd take the concept car anyday. Definately will change my hood if someone makes a rendering of the concept one.

A hood shown in the recent SEMA (october 2004, page 50) magazine has promise. It is made by Westrendz (i only have a poor quality black and white picture). Also the hood blends well with the mod skirts and front air dam.

Name of company is spelled Westrendz, but the listed website reflected westrenz.com and westrendz.com; both do not work.

Can anyone give an idea of what it typically costs to change hood and do the skirts and dam?

...which is why, I think, we'll probably see more of that in later Mustangs and/or specials. If car fashion and design doesn't change dramatically by then.

The concept is cool, I like the low profile of it, but the production one is awesome. I'm glad they decided to go for an 'oldish-new' design of the tail lights rather than the mid-'70s look of the concept. The current ones look so much better, without having that awkard angle of the previous model that made it look like someone had applied a sledgehammer to the upper rear body panels and trunklid.

That is without a doubt the type of hood they need to come out with for the '05. That would make it look even more retro, and would be the perfect touch IMO.

With scoops like the concept hood, it wouldn't be hard at all to fabricate a duct to route air straight into the throttle body. Just a little bit of work to relocate the MAF sensor and throw a flat K&N in the way and pic up a bunch of cooler, denser air. It wouldn't take much to fit something in there... just have to be sure to incorporate a trap and low point drain for water on those rainy days. Poke around under the hood of a TA w/ Ram Air and get some ideas, but it shouldn't be hard since the T-body is right in front.
