Well I can't say I love that black plastic side extender thing

Are there any options out now? Maybe replacing it like the GT has are those even available?

or could it just be painted the cars color? Another thought maybe adding something like the rocker stripes ect...

I think the black kinda makes it Invisible anyone agree?

thanks in advance for you thoughts

btw here's a pic of what i'm talking about

I am not following you, what is the black side extender thing?

Post a pic of what you are talking talking about or try and describe it a little better. Would love to help but have no clue as to what your talking about.

It's the same rocker panel on the GT. You can just get it painted. BTW, what color is your car? I think it looks good black, but it depends on what color your car is.

EDIT: ok I see it. Why is it red?

ok, well, in that case, I don't think the black rockers work on white, so I'd get them painted.

You cant just get them painted.. Its kinda the same as how some members got their side mirrors painted. Their are a lot of places on the V6 that arent the body color.. the side mirrors, the side bottom thing.. the lines that crosse the top of the car that are right above the door.. probably some other places to

 OK, well...we're not talking about those things. They look just fine, except for the rockers, which really detract from the lines of the car.

I'm having a real problem with those black plastic rockers also. My car is black, but no matter how hard I try, the rockers always look dirty and gray. I usually usee Armoral (sp?) on them but that doesn't seem to last very long. Any suggestions on something that might keep them looking black longer?

I asked a paint shop about painting the rocker panel and the guy told me it would be a problem to paint it. He said because of the texture of the plastic and where it is, it will be exposed to a lot of abuse. I can't say I believe him, because the guy was a lazy jerk and told me my stripes were going to cost $2000 when every other place quoted me $800.

It would be neat to see if the piece on the GT is the same textured plastic as it is on the V6 and if so, obviously it can be painted.

I forgot to post that Back To Black works pretty good on the rocker panel

I ordered a White GT and was actually thinking of having that piece painted silver. I had a 68 and it was chrome there. I think painting it silver would give it the retro look! I don't know how well you can see it in this picture but here it is.

I have a performance white V-6 and I think that the black rocker panel looks great, especially with black stripes! but hey thats just me.
It should be able to be painted since their is an option for "color coded" rockers!

Azlitigator, the rockers on the GT are not rough textured. If you'd like yours painted, I don't see a problem (for instance my rear flaps are painted and are rough textured, they look just fine, can't even notice unless you're up close) but if you want them smooth, you'll have to see if the GT rockers fit and have them painted to match.

Hope that helps,

Mark.

Thanks Original Sin, I may do that. I was going to try a few other paint places to get other opinions before deciding anyway. It may be easier and less expensive to just order the GT ones and get those painted.

Here's another idea. Have them painted w/ the same stuff that some companies are using for spray-in bedliners. That stuff won't chip or scratch since it'll be taking the abuse, and it can be sprayed to match your body color.
