I've heard stories, but never really had it confirmed for sure.

Is the wheel bolt patern different on the 2005 compared to 99-04?

I have a set of winter tires and rims i want to use from my 1999 Stang, for my 2006 when i get it.

The bolt pattern is the same... the offset is different. Your 99 wheels will stick out more.

The search button works very well.

I placed 2002 Ford Factory black bullits, 17", on my 05 Windveil Blue 'Vert. Bolted right, no problems. They have the original 02 tires (245x17x50 I think). The wheels do extend past the fender lip about 1/2 inch, but the look is outstanding. It gives the car a very agressive stance that's drawn raves from all. I have seen them listed on Ebay for 329.00 a set, for 17" I say "GO FOR IT"

Other than having the wrong offset, you also have the wrong tire. 245/45/17's are too small. You've increased the gap between the wheel well and the tire as well as made your speedometer, tripometer, and odometer all be wrong.

I use my old Cobra R 17x9 with 275/40/17 all around for my track events. I know the speedo if off but who cares on a track

They stick out the fenders by about 1/4" but they do not rub anywhere. Next year, I will drop my suspension and we will have to see if there is any rubbing.

With 275 in front with the wrong offset, my feeling is that there is more understeer than it should with a correct offset but for driving on the street, I see no problem !

Camber plates would correct that

Here is a pic of how it looks

:worship: My mistake on the tire size, actually 255/45/17 and the off set is barely noticable, handling 100 times improved, and the overall difference in the tire/wheel height is less than 1/2 inch shorter than the stock combo (215/65/16). As for the speedo etc... on a measured mile, I have been unable to see any significant change in measured distance, I had my partner clock me with a radr gun and the mph was dead on at 30mph and at 60mph, so I am not sure what you are basing your comments on  . Bottom line, it looks great, rides great and I LOVE IT!, As for pics, when I figure out how to attach them to a posting, I will.

You need to get the pic below 200k (or pay the $15 to join Team Mustang Source and support the site - then you can post larger pics).

I was simply basing it on the fact that you said you put on the STOCK '02 wheels and tires which are 245/45/17's.

Thanks for the info RMAC, was unaware of sign-up. Will do so today. Any other info I should be aware of? Formerly involved with VMF site, but sold 73 ragtop to fund purchase of the 05. As my sons say, "finally joining the new millenium!"

Cool....that's good to know.

I wanted to use my 99 winter steels...
BUT just remember they are actually 15", may not clear the brakes/rotors on the 2006. darn. oh well...looks like i'll be sellng them off.

And what does OFFSET really mean?
I always thought it was the way the bolt pattern is spaced out. So i didn't think the studs would actually fit into the weels correctly, or at all.
But now it looks like the spacing inside the wheel that the bearing sits against? Right?

here's an example, using 19x9.5 inch rims:

99-04 has a +24 offset, and 6.20 backspacing

The same wheels on an 05 have a +50 offset, and 7.22 backspacing.

Here are some definitions:

BACKSPACING:
The distance from the inner edge of the wheel to the hub mount pad

OFFSET:
the distance from the centerline to the hub mount pad (where the wheel attaches to the hub).

POSITIVE OFFSET - The hub-mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel.

NEGATIVE OFFSET - The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline.

Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. Been working forced doubles for the past three weeks :notnice:

Did get to enjoy the car today, though. Great weather, great cruising.

I put after-market Bullitt wheels (04 and before style) on my 05 and they look and ride awesome. They stick out just a little bit farther but it gives the car a more agressive stance.

Delz... don't worry about the comment about mud flaps... there's absolutely nothing wrong with having them on the car. Your car looks pretty cool to me!!!

Are the 05 Bullitts the same style as the 04-prior wheels? I was wondering if it would look weird to have the early Bullitts on the rear to fill out the wheelwells but leave the 05 Bullitts on the front...

 Flaps are to prevent battle scars on the bottom of the rear bumper cover, a lot of pot holes and road gravel on the city roads. Have no idea what you refer to, or why??!! Your comment sounds like something my 13 year old would utter...when he was 9!
Any way, hope you get a car of your own someday, would really like to be able to offer unsolicitated wise cracks and sarcasim, in an "All-American" sort of way!
