4.6 pony emblems

I thought I would post some pics of the new emblems I put on my car to replace the GT’s that I never much cared for. I looked all over the place for something like this, I would have preferred the 281 designation above the pony but this is the next best thing.

Some info on them, They had 4 small pins which I had to clip off, and the back is one giant cavity that I wasn’t sure about leaving as is, so I filled it with plumbers putty and then when it cured I sanded it down, placed the 3m tape on the back and presto, new side emblems. These are chrome, not plastic and about the size of the pony package emblems. I got them from mustangs unlimited.
Part numbers Item No: SD83 01
Item No: SD82 01
I like ‘em Hopefully the pics will attach....I always seem to have issues with that.

Looks good. I saw those on their website and liked em. Thanks for letting us see what they look like "in person".

NIce. I would have liked the 281 too. Maybe they will read this thread and make some.

I have the same ones (replaced the "GT" also). You're right, 281's would've been better but I counldn't find any.

I painted the horse matte black on mine. I have a black car so I was going for the subdued look (painted the horse black on my Cervini brushed aluminum grill too). Not quite sure if I like the effect 'cause from a distance I can barely see the horse now being it's against a black car. I guess I'll leave it on for now.

Thanks for sharing.

How about a side view so we can see the size a little better? But it looks nice!

Is the "GT" emblem just a stick on or does it have pins?

It has 2 pins, that go into the holes in the fender. They are there to keep the emblem level when installing.

Spacing on the "GT" Pins?

What's the spacing on the pins and matching fender holes from those GT badges? I'm working on some custom badging and want to make sure it'll cover the holes...If you don't know the distance, could you tell me where it is in the GT? i.e. behind the top right side of the G and the bottom of the T or something like that???

The 1st post is where the bottom right of the "G" (your looking at the emblem in front of you) curves up, at the corner. The second post is dead center on the straight piece that connects the "G" to the "T". Another way to describe where the second post is, its on that straight piece, directly in front of the right vertical part of the "G". I took a crappy camera phone pic, and am just waiting for it to get to my email address, so I can post it. Hope this helps.

If I'm reading this correctly then the holes are aligned vertically.

Thanks Rob, stay tuned in the coming weeks when I finally get all accumulated parts in my garage painted, striped and installed. It should be fun....
I think these emblems would look great on that beautiful car of yours.

The pegs aren't vertical to each other. One if ahead of the other. If you look below, there is a link to a crappy camera phone pic of the GT emblem I took, that I have on my glass partition outside of my office. I sanded the pegs off, but you can see where they were. Just remember, the picture is from behind the logo. Hope this helps.
