All, I just got off the phone with 3DCarbon and they explained to me that the hood seen on the picture below is not being made because several retailers have told them that the price point of $850 is too high. I don't know about you guys, but I would fork out that much for the hood. It is an aluminum hood that looks like the prototype hood ford had on its first few 05 pics.

If you agree with me, give 3DCarbon a call - let them know you like it so they will start producing the hood.

It is similar. Not a replica....

In my opinion it looks great.

Yeah it's similar is in it's also a hood for a 2005 mustang. Other then that it’s not even close. It looks like the Ford GT’s hood only they messed up and didn’t go far enough. I like the concept hood better.

That's my favorite hood so far. Those who like it are in the minority. Most TMS members voted for other hoods as their favorite on the "hood poll" done right after SEMA.

That's a sensible conclusion.
It might be a bit steep, specially for those who paid MSRP for their GTs.

My favorite hood is going to be a stock hood with a hole in it to allow a shaker system through.

I wouldn't pay that much, either. It'd be cheaper if it was made in fiberglass. Maybe that's the route they should take? It has been suggested on the '05 Pony Drive website that CDC is working on the "concept hood with the scoops out front", but CDC won't comment yet. No proof, but wouldn't that be cool? Someone's gotta do it, unless Ford has a design patent on it or something, and plans to use it for future editions.

Way to much. I like the Classic Design Concepts hood. It can be put in the original hood for a hole lot less.

I still like the 3d carbon hood - I'd like to push them to make it. What are the other options if you don't like a large air scoop on the hood. I also like the ford demo hood - although it is totally different in every respect to the 3d carbon hood!

$850.00 for an aluminum hood???? I'd pay it. That is better than paying $650.00 for a fiberglass hood. What I don't understand is you say they are not offering it, yet, you can order it with the Boy Racer package. What gives?

Its not included in the boy racer kit. I called and spoke to them two days ago and they will not offer the hood until there is more demand for it at the $850 price. I called to order the kit, and the lady (can't remember her name) explained that dealers have told 3D that they will not be able to sell the hood for that price. So, until they get a demand, no hood!

I wrote to 3D to find out exactly what hood is included, because there is a hood for the Boy Racer Kit. I'll post what I find out.

Here is the reply from 3D Carbon

"The price of the hood will be $850.00. That is the last part we will be
putting into production. At this time, there is no ETA on a release date."

They even sent me a brochure.

its nice hood but $850 is a bit much. i'd rather take a concept or an MRT or a 71-73 mach hood. which im still waiting for btw.

Hey John,
I got the same response. I can get a factory hood for around $750 CAN.
To me, all it looks like is 2 rectangles cut and the front pulled down around an inch.
Sides are the filled in. front is lipped with mesh. Also factor in the cost of primer, paint, stripes and clear.
Also, is that front cowl functional? When it rains, where does all the water go?
I love this hood, but too many questions to ask.
