Arg, I'm drunk and ready to pull the trigger...but I need to know...

Are 285's a proper fit for a 9" wide wheel?
...and...
Are 255's a proper fit for an 8" wide wheel?

I'd like to know ASAP cuz I'm drunk now and ready to pull the trigger, and I'll probably rethink my decision in the morning...

Thanks!

255's fit perfect on a 8" rim, but I have 285's on the rear and if I remember right they required a 9.5" minimum rim. 275's are O.K. with the 9".

BF Goodrich makes a 274/40R/18 with a diameter of 26.7", GForce T/A KD.
It's a great tire. I am running them now.

Chris, 285's will fit fine on a 9" rim. Call the Tire Rack, they'll confirm for ya, alot of their packages for our cars have either an 8/9 or a 9/10 front to rear combo and the 18" sizes call for 285/40/18's at the back to keep the overall diameter correct.

So go ahead.....make that call.....I did!!!

Depends on the manufacturer as well since BFG's min requirement for a 285 is a 9.5" tire.

Haha, yes I put it off till the morning...and came very close to not getting them in my sober state. ..but it's all done now. Woo woo. I just hope it fits right. I got a friend telling that the sizes are wrong, but a few people here say they are running them fine.
255 on 18x8
285 on 18x9
The people running those sizes, no bulge at all? No regrets?

Some pics would be nice... I'm looking too, and I'm having a hard time 'cause most of the sizes I run upon is like installing 4.10s in the car with original size tires! Changing the overall Diameter of the tire gives you the same effect... Knowing that 285 fits on a 9" wide rim is great news! PICS PLEASE!

They fit perfect. Some things to note:

* Front are 255/45/18 on 18x8 wheels with 38 mm offset.
* Back are 255/40/18 on 18x9 wheels with 45 mm offset.
* The offsets are different so the front tires will be flush with the back tires when looking at the car from the front or behind.
* 285s aren't nearly as big as I thought they would be.
* Brand new tires are extremely slippery.

Here ya go. Sorry it's dark. The pics really bring out the gap between the wheel well and the tire. Kinda sucks. Makes me want to lower my car. Also, it just looks like the wheels/tires are small in the pics. Looks better in real life, but still, I could do with them filling the wheel well better.

Now.....all that's left is to, well you already said it.......LOWER HER CHRIS

Anyways, looks great. You'll have to give us a driving impression when you can get those BFG's heated up a bit.

See ya - Mark

Nooooo, you are a bad influence...:P I swore I would never lower my car again (after my last car)...too much hassle, too much worrying about scraping! but...but...the huge gap makes the wheel look small...

Mark, be sure to post pics of yours when they arrive! And you were right, perfect fit.

Will do Chris. Mine arrive tomorrow morning (finally....stupid Customs people) but I don't know if I'll be able to put them on....it's snowing here again (crap !!!).

Anyways, glad to see you're bowing under the (lowering) pressure. You have to do it, just make sure you check out some of the Steeda issues, might want to check out Eibach's or maybe even the FRPP Handling kit which is what I'm going with in the spring (swapping out my Steeda's for a complete package).

Anyways...the wheels/tires look great, that's the main thing.

What issues with Steeda springs?

If I lower, I want no more than 1" all around and with little sacrifice of ride comfort/quality as possible. I don't really care about performance, just getting rid of the wheel gap. How about Roush?
