I want to put a 281 emblem on my shaker hood but can't decide on which one.

I vote for the black background, especially on a black Mustang!

Let's look at some historical pictures from a 1969 Mustang...

and one from a particular 2006...

 

I like them both, but I voted for #2 with the black backing. who has these and how much$$$?

 

If they didnt cost too much I'd get both then choose..(return the other one is possible)

 

Neither... they're just a tad too big for the shaker and they don't contour the shaker's curves correctly (the top front corner will stick out - remember how picky I am, Leo?). That's why I took them off. But, if I had to choose, it would be #2 (but I won't vote).

I have #1 on mine. I think it looks better on a smooth surface-type hood like the GTAP hood scoop. I like #2 on a texture-type hood like the Shaker as shown in TacoBill's set-up. Both emblems are available via autobadges.com

Those actually look really good. Can you take a measurement across for me? I'm wondering if they are smaller than the rectangle around the 281 in choice #2. If so, they may appear smaller without the box around them. Those are the emblems from Autobadges.com?

 

Yes, They are from autobadges.com. I paid $20.00 for the pair + $5.00 shipping. I just measured them: they're 1" high and 3" wide(about 1/8" thick).They're plastic, however, the quality appears to be good. There was a slight curve to the side of the hood scoop and I was worried that the emblems would pull away. They have not and are still place.

 

Thanks for the measurements. They might not want to pull away as much as the rectangle would on the other emblem.
