I know there were many issues with this hood when it was first released. I would like to hear comments and pictures of those of you who have this hood currently on your car. I want a hood that is functional as well as having a scoop. Thx~

Please tell me what problems your having because I was a about a week away from getting this hood, already have the shipping quote and everything. This is the RK sport hood right? I've heard from a local guy with the California hood from RK that he ended up having to do the hood pins and there's no way I'm doing that.

Thanks, Doug.

I think most of the problems have been resolved BUT there is no way I would put an aftermarket fiberglass hood on my car WITHOUT hood pins, but that's just me!

Thanks, I just read the guys website with the red car with the RK problems, man that scares me. As for the aftermarket hood I've used them on more then 5 different cars and I must say that you usually get what you pay for so if it's $600+ then it should bolt on and be good. For a less then $500 hood then I could understand why the hood pins may be required. Maybe Cervini will release a hood for us soon, they have always been the best in my book.

thanks, Doug.

I just had the RKSport California Dream hood installed. It shakes like a leaf anywhere above 60mph. I am taking it back to my body shop tomorrow to see if they can adjust it some, but I will probably have to install pins. The hood was good in most respects. The body guy said it fit better than any other fiberglass hood he'd seen before. It did, however, have scratches and nicks from shipping, and the underside wasn't exactly show quality. The supervisor said if I wanted it perfect, it was about 5 hours ($260) worth of work. Being an everyday car that is likely to get rock chips and bug splatter anyway, I told him to do the best that he could with a minimum hike in the bill. I got what I paid for, which was probably better than the factory paint job, and it looks great. The underside even looks pretty good all clearcoated and shiny. The stock hood blanket doesn't fit. I don't imagine this hood could last indefinitely, though, without hood pins.

BTW - The RK CD hood was $700, and it's NOT "bolt on and be good".

05YellowGT, nice car !!!! The hood any other mods are great.
Did you just want the hood pins or did you feel the hood really needed them at higher speeds?

Craig , no the hood pins are definitely needed. When the paint shop put the hood on for a test fit , they left it on for a few days and when I drove on I-95 the hood vibrated like it would come off. The bolts that connect the latch to the hood only have two small metal plates in the hood for them to attach to and I was afraid they might pull out. Unlike the Steeda hood I had on my 1990 which had a large continuous metal plate in the hood with a large area to resist the bolts. Even with their hoods , Steeda still recommends hood pins , especially on the O5 since the factory metal hoods were blowing off on the racing circuit ...
