20/22(295/30/22) on SPORTLINES!!

DISCLAIMER:
If you have anything rude or negative to say please post elsewhere, this thread is for show-off and information only. Thanks

My car is dropped on sportlines(1.6"/2.0") drop. Having said that Ive been calculating and running numbers trying to figure out the biggest tire/wheel combination I could do without rubbing. Using the dims from guys with Pro-kits and factoring my extra drop in I figured I could run a 295 tire that was 29" tall. I had to have my offset almost perfect to pull this off. Ive had 20s and while I loved the look, everyone seems to have 20" bullitts now, I thought about running 18s with some big ol fatty tires but decided not to since everyone has 18s too. I've had a set of 22" tires in my shed that I bought for my old truck and no one has bought em since I've had them for sale so instead of eating the $500 they cost me I decided to see if I could actually use them ( I used the tire's size to use as my base measurements to work off of and compare to other combinations. The 295/30/22 Pirellis were just a tad bigger than the 295/45/18s that other people were running on pro-kit dropped mustangs. So I decided to be the guinie pig and either make use of my money wisely or make a huge financial disaster lol. Well I bought a set of eagle alloy 025 20/22s and bought a set of 255/35/20 matching pirellis for the front and had them mounted and balanced. I got a chance to test em out in the rear today since it was really nice out, I first measured my rear end to make sure it was all centered up ( It was perfect, I guess I adjusted the panhard perfectly, GO ME! lol) and I mounted one wheel and lowered the jack down VERY slowly cause I didn't know what it was gonna do. Well it cleared so I threw the other side on and it cleared too. When I say cleared I mean barely misses the fender by a c-hair on both sides. But I rocked the car and did everything I could to try and make it toch the tires while my dad watched the wheels in the fender and I couldn't get em to touch. Woo hoo! I put the rest of the wheels on and test drove it and rode on it pretty hard around turns and hit some speedbumps and there is 0 signs of rub or problems. It brakes just as fast as it did b4, It rides better than the stock wheels do, (ZOMG!!) I was surprised too actually. They weigh about the same as my 20" bullitts on kuhmo tires did but thats going by no technical weight measuring device, just my brute massive measuring strength haha. They clear the brakes by alot so there should be plenty of room for the cobra brake kit .

I couldn't find my camera so I snapped a pic with my camera phone, you should be able to get the idea of how close it is.

For you guys running sportlines, if you use my wheel specs or a tire/wheel calculator, you should be able to figure out the largest wheel combination you can go with and clear. My tires are 295/30/22 on 9.5" wide rim with 40m offset. I wish I had know that size a tire and offset would fit cause it would have saved me some sleepless nights I was up worrying about it.

Seems like they'd rub with the first bump he hits.

Looks is one thing but if it handles better and you have no issues with tire rub ,let the good times roll The car looks excellent

Nope no rub, I drove it pretty hard, alot harder than I normally do, went over speed bumps, made some sharp u-turns alot quicker than I do normally and scoped it all out and no rub marks were present on the tire. Its not really all that close. You guys think that is close? You should see what some of the euro tuner guys do to their VWs, the wheels on those things are ridiculously close to the fenders, but they get away with it.

I don't know if the handling is really better, but its not bad even with the big wheels.

All in all the wheels don't look all that big on there if you see it in person. All you really notice is its got a slight rake to it and the tires in the back are tucking some.

What really helps is the fenders are rolled from the factory, front and rear.Ford really thought this car out and knew we wanted to stuff some big tire back there.

While the 22's may be a bit much for me- I must admit that it looks great. I sure wish I could lower mine.

rocket88: How about saying something positive!?

555: Sweet ride man!!! It looks better with these new pics, and that back wheel looks sick! It fills up every inch of the well.
