Fenders look cool but why in the world are you going to swap a 4.6 from a GT? It would have been cheaper for you to buy the GT in the first place.

He's only Joking about swapping for the 4.6.. He understands the 4.0 of the 05-06's has alot of potential..

Looks like the GTR fenders are turning out quite well! Good job! Cant wait to see final pics!

and where do you get that idea from? He was joking at the part where he said he would be done for a while.

LOL!! Trust me, anyone considering swapping from a V6 to V8 has got to be joking.. The cost for the swap is around $15K.. Now granted, in his situation, he could just buy the motor and install it himself.. He restores Classic Corvettes for a living.. So it is possible I guess, he may be considering doing this afterall.. But like you said, the GT purchase in the beginning would have been alot cheaper.. Even if he's doing the work himself..

So its got to be a joke.. Or Pun!

Maybe he meant a 5.4 form a GT as in the big-dog GT? Wouldn't seem much of a stretch at this point.

reasons for above, is insurance - im 18..... need full coverage, and my cost for parts is less than everybody elses, so i can litterally build a better GT for less than what one retails. and then all i need is 4.56's, slicks and a 150 shot and ill be dropping 10.50's all day long.

wow... this sounds like a sweet project.

a 5.4 would be really cool

and has it occured to you to maybe manufacture/sell the fenders? cuz i bet theres plenty of ppl out there who'd like a set. shoot, if i had an 05 V6 i'd do the exact same thing.wiht only one difference, i'd spring for a 5.0 cammer but that might cost a bit... but still. i cant wait to see this thing finished

edit: eek!!! lol, i need to read more carefully :P

Don't forget the transmission, rear end, axles, and suspension. It is more than just the engine that makes the GT a GT.

Also, if you ever get in an accident, insurance may deny your claim because of the swapped engine (unless you report it, which is what you are trying to avoid).

Just a word of caution, not that it would stop me if I were in your shoes -- sounds like a great project!

yes, gears, slicks and nitrous will make you drop 10.50s all day long. Get over yourself kid and trust others when they say that you have one tough project on yours hands. Enjoy besting Ford with this one.

I dont respond well to kids that think they can do something with a car with so little work.

10.50s with a short list......

Sheesh, give him a break. He seems to know what he is doing (look at post #11) and he's not going off the deep end with claims like other people have done around here. I'm sure he know's what it will take to get into the 10.50s with the car he has.

More power to you Roger, I hope you make it happen. And the fenders are sweet, you've definitely got a product on your hands that would sell very well in my opinion. I cant wait to see the final project.

Its tough love for the kid.

He will build a unique looking vehicle with a lot of time and effort, I will give him that. But a 10 second car with so little effort.... at least I basically implied that I'm a frickin jerk.

If he wants to drop in the same base engine power combined with that short list he would be running high 11s and low 12s "all day long" unless he truly wanted the GTR fit and finish (gutted). Not too shabby of course but I place that 10 second car comment in with the same bs I got from a Civic owner.... "It has exhaust and will run a low 13".

If this hippy kid cares to lengthen that list with more detail perhaps I'll shut up and enjoy this project for what it is worth.

it has been done, stock Gt motor. 4.56's, cold air intake with a tune, slicks dropped 11.20, and then went to 4.11's with 150 shot and cold air and slicks went 10.50, I know this b/c a local company near my house sponsored this car with these mods, and it ran 10.50. it was a stick car. stock GT bottom end. - Roger

A V6 to GT for less than the cost of a GT, running 10.5's, and all done by an 18 year old in one day.

This I gotta see. Call the producers of "Monster Garage" and "Overhaul" and tell them to come tape it.

I've got faith. He's not exactly trying best Ford, considering he's starting from one. I'de think you wouldn't doubt the power of nitrous. A 150 shot will free up even more than that in torque, put that through 4.56s and slicks and who knows. Maybe 10.5s is a bit optimistic, but i'll bet he gets close.

Though I think swapping in a terminator motor might be a better idea. As I'm sure you're aware, a tune, exhuast, pulley, and ported blower can result in ~ 500 rwhp. Then, try factoring in the nitrous. Check out Ken Gushi's drifter--its a little ricey, so just look at the engine.

But yeah....those fenders are pretty much sweet.

and idont appriciate jealous assed comments, dont go around mocking me b/c im youngerthan you and can actually do all the things that i can do very well and with ease. and never did i say id do everything in one day, but a motor swap is a one day project, in and out, have it down to a science bud. - Roger

Alright everybody, lets just relax.

Hippie, your fender looks great. This topic should have just been about that.

If you want to debate power/ET potential, there are better places than the exterior mods section to do that.
