18x9 mustang tuning wheels wont fit??

I have a set of 18x9 chrome deep dish rims from mustang tuning. I went to have them mounted and installed today with 255/45/18 tires, and turns out they dont fit. When turning the rim hard left or hard right the tire comes in contact with the lower control arm. Also the outer edge of the rim is directly below the lip of the fender, which means they will surely hit if i run over a bump. How do these not fit? I thought these were the perfect size? Anyone else having similar problems?

Sounds like you may have gotten the 94-04 18x9s instead of the 2005+ 18x9s.

Are these the ones you got (model # 10012)? http://www.americanmuscle.com/deepdish1.html
If so, then you got the ones for the 94-04 mustang and the offset will be 24mm (will stick out more on a 2005)

If you got these (model #28023) http://www.americanmuscle.com/verde-...eels-18x9.html then I'm not sure why you would have a problem as these are made for the 2005+ mustang (34mm offset)

That was the first thing i thought of as well. The specs listed on the box are the correct 2005 ones with the 34mm offset. We didnt actually try them on the car becuse the installer was so concerned that they would hit the control arm that he didnt want to put the tires on in case we needed to return everything. I cant figure out whats wrong since i know of alot of people who put these rims on without problems.

Do the wheels have any markings on them that list the model #? Maybe they were packaged wrong.

Yes they do but they are showing the same as the box (which is what is supposed to fit on the 2005 mustang according to the website). I just cant figure out the problem here? It looks like the wheels will no doubt hit the control arm when turned all the way right or all the way left.

Bump! can anyone help me out or has anyone had this same problem themselves? I need to know what to do soon cause the installer is waiting on my call. I hate to have the tires mounted and then the fronts not fit, because then i cant reutrn them, but if that is what i have to do i will.

Contact AmericanMuscle and ask them for advice.

I have seen posts from them in the past and they have been very responsive in resolving the occasional issue. See this thread...

did you buy all 4 the same size?

If so, have them mount one rim and tire and test fit on the front...if it doesn't work, you'll be able to return 2 and exchange (if indeed they are wrong) and you'll have the 1 you mounted plus one more for the rear which should fit regardless.

Yes they are all four the same size (18x9). That is what i think i am going to do, but i am going to give American Muscle a call tomorrow and see what they have to say. Hopefully it just looks like they wont fit, but they will in fact fit but it will jsut be really close. (*crosses fingers*)

That was me...

But my issue with them was a crappy tire choice, and mixed lug nuts. The rims fit nicely, I have 18x9 on front and 18x10 on the rear. I even have the car lowered, but I used Roush springs not Eibach or someone else, because the Roush drop is less. The tires are slightly oversized in diameter vs. the oem GT setup, but it works beautifully with no issues at all. The tires I used were Nitto.

Is your Mustang lowered? If not it must be the wrong rim... that's the only thing I can figure.

Or could there be a difference in the V6 vs. GT suspension?

Just a little off-topic, but what is the drop difference?

I have the 18x9 chrome DD from Mustang Tuning and the fit is perfect, no spacers, the car is lowered and no issue with the quality. The best money spent so far!

Sorry i must have been posting right as you posted that, but that is definitly something good to hear. Geuss i will just let them mount one tire on a rim and test fit it.

All I can possibly see is 1) your installer is wrong in his call, or 2) they did send you the last gen rims.

From my experience with them, the second is more likely I'm sorry to say, but if they did send 4 of the correct version, they are designed specifically for the 05-on Mustang and don't fit the previous models. Be sure all 4 are identical. Hopefully its just a wolf cry

OR, one last possibility- that there IS some mechanical difference in the suspension from the V6 to the GT.....but I doubt it knowing Ford...

Well i spoke to the people from Mustang Tuning (aka American Muscle now) and the were very helpful. They said it is possible i was sent the wrong set, but not likely, but they assured me that they would take all four rims back even after being mounted if they do not fit right and send me a set that will in fact fit correctly.
