18" Halibrand Cobra III 18" mid-lips

Has anyone installed the 18" Halibrand Cobras? Do they fit on the 05 GT? I'd love to put the 18"x9" on the front and 18"x10 on the back with some KDW rubber.

Please note that I'm actually not an idiot, I did read blackgt05's post below http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=47063 and I'm talking about a different wheel.

Here's my wheels, 18x9s all around as 18x10 were not available (don't know if they are available right now).

I have better pics, but I have to look for them...

There are Halibrand Cobra III wheels 18 x 9 MagCoat mid lip which will fit '05+ but I don't think the ones in that link will fit. The offset doesn't look like it is for an '05+

I'm looking to buy a set as well. I was told they are on national back order and the next batch in from Japan isn't expected until mid June.
TRQ QTRHRSE said he will help out a fellow TMSer and work out a deal for me.

I'm a big fan of Halibrands, but I like the deeper, 3-D effect like the originals that were on the 427 Cobras. OEWheelsDirect had some nice ones in their magzine ads, then when they actually came out, they were "flat" like the newer Halibrand Cobra IIIs. I do like those, and your car does look great, but doesn't anyone make the older-style Halibrand look (like Team III wheels) for the 05?

They are not flat, but they are not the deepest lip either, it's a mid lip, about 2" I would say... Rick (TRQ QTRHRSE) can probably tell you more... by the way Jim, I love the Cali Dream you have, I guess I really need to update my pics so ya'l can see how mine looks!

I don't mean flat as in deep-dish or no-dish. I mean the spokes. The original Halibrands had 6 spokes with the areas in between a good inch and a half deeper. The newer Cobra IIIs have all the spokes and the area between them pretty much on one plane. They still look great, but I get nostalgic for the old style.

I see what you are saying, and I agree, I wish they would've done the spokes with more curves rather than all straight, it takes away a bit from it (I like the ones that Cervinis sell, I think they are GTRs?)

Thiner spokes and curvier rather than thicker and flat would've been nice...

That's the one thing that turns me off about the new Halibrands as well as the stock Bullitts. They're so flat and one-dimensional.

My 18x9's are 36 mm offset and are basically even with the edge of the fender(with tire) the ones in your link appear to be 30 mm offset which means roughly another 1/4" out of the wheel well

O.K. Guys,

Here is the deal I have 6 distinct Cobra III Wheels. Two were produced for Discount Tire. These are no longer in production they were called the deep lip wheels they were produced in 17X9’s and 17X10.5’s both are 22mm (SN-95 fitment per Discount Tire Guidelines). Then there is what we refer to as the Mid-Lip wheels they are made in 17X9’s and 18X9’s both available with either a 30mm (SN-95 fitment) or 43mm offset (S-197 fitment). Then we have the 18X10 (SN-95 fitment) Rear Only Staggered wheel. Then there is the No-Lip 17X9 and 18X9 both have 38mm offset and fit the SN-95 and S-197 chassis. The No-Lip wheel was designed as a big brake wheel, up to 15 inch 6 piston and that is why it has very little lip. In all reality the No-Lip wheels have a ¾ inch lip the Mid-Lips have a 1 ¾ inch lip and the Staggered-Lips have a 3-inch lip. The 18X9 Mid-Lips are on back order but should arrive soon we hope. I also have coming in the new 20X9 and 20X10’s made specifically for the S-197 cars due in on the same shipment. Attached are some photos for reference sake.

Rick

In the attachments you can see the 3 wheels side by side. Then a Mid-Lip 18X9 shot on a S-197, a No-Lip 18X9 on a SN-95 & a Mid-Lip 18X9 and a Staggered-Lip 18X10 on a SN-95.
