So today I was looking at wheels, specifically American Racing Torq Trust II's for my 05 GT... I've read all the offset issues and despite all the intimidating posts, would this be possible? Rear wheel specs are 17X11, offset is 27mm, backspacing 7", and lug offset is appropriate for 94-up mustangs. What type of issues might i encounter when installing these wheels, other than the wheels extending outside the fender wells a bit? Anyone have any experience with this type of setup on the 2005's? Would tire size matter at all as far as rubbing? Oh, and car is not lowered... Ok, everyone weigh in!

These wheels will hit the calipers. That is what American Racing says and somebody on oneof these forums tried them a while back and confirmed that they hit.

66stang, hit the calipers due to 17" size? AR says 505 torq thrusts will clear the calipers....

Copied from American Racing website

Make: FORD
Model: MUSTANG GT 17X8 +45 OEM 2005-Present
Comments: 17" two piece styles will not clear disc brakes
Wheels: Series 405

The 505 series is two piece. the 405's are 18's and will fit.

sho nuff, you're right. Interestingly, one member, frank, indicates he bought these wheels and was able to file the calipers to fit. let's say this is possible, how much fender well overlay are we looking at here, and would there be clearance otherwise?

The 17x11's will stick out 2.25 inches further than the stock wheels. So probably about an inch outside the fender.

I'm pretty sure 11" wide rims would be too wide. My 18x10's barely fit. As for getting the 17" TT II's to fit you need to shave the calipers down a bit in order for the rims to clear the calipers. I have about 1/8" gap between the rim and calipers. They are definately a tight fit.

John what is the offset of those 18x10s? Do they stick out to?

Offset is 45mm = 7.25" and nope, they don't sick out. They line up with the body, however I need to get an adjustable panhard rod to recenter the axle. The axle has shifted 1/4" to the drivers side after lowering it. Tires don't rub though

Cool I want to try 17x10 with 275 or 285 rubber all the way around.
