I like MRT's the best to because the rest of them kind of take the same shape as the 1/4 window. I like the more square shape these have
not saying the others look bad this is just my preference.

The rear window louvers on the other hand are nothing short of disturbing. Those aluminum slats over the back glass should have died in the 80's. JMO.

Once again to all concerned,
I just received a confirmation from MRT that part #MRT-305 (the 1/4 window louvers pictured in post directly above) are designed to be removed for cleaning.
They can be purchased from MRT for $189.00.

Hey dark horse
Any idea how those 1/4 window louvers are removed for cleaning?
Do they completly come off or do they have hinges?
Right now I am on hold for the 1/4 window louvers just for the cleaning purpose.

nicksolheim,
Here is the response I received from MRT;
There is a way to remove the window louvers for cleaning purposes. This process does not allow for the louvers to be stolen off your car though (they were engineered to prevent this). So yes they can be removed for cleaning purposes. Thank you and have a great day.
My email to MRT;
I e-mailed earlier today with a question regarding the quarter window louvers for the '05 Mustang (part#MRT-305) and was told that they can be easily removed for cleaning of the window. Can someone please confirm this. Thank you very much.

Correct, that is how it was on the older stangs, but it won't be that way on this car. These are for looks only. Personally I don't know why people are sooooo concerned about cleaning the window. You can easily spray windex or some other cleaner through the vents, let it soak and then hose it down really good. Worked great on my 77 stang, ya I know it was an ugly body style but hey, it was still a stang ![Thumb](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Edit: Personally I wouldn't want mine to be removable.

so these louvers were originaly put in place without the glass in the 1/4 window right? as a source of circulation through the cockpit?

I'm not really concerned about window cleaning, it's that I don't want dirt and grime building up under the louver that may promote rust.
3d Carbon's seem to mount directly to the glass and are only as big as the glass. Most others are larger than the glass meaning they will be in contact with the paint/body. If 'dirt' is allowed to build up here, retaining water, it could become a pontential problem over time.

The Street Scene ones are the same as 3D Carbons in that they mount directly to the glass and not to the body. My guess is that everyone will build them to mount to the glass and not the body as that would be a big concern.

So does anyone know how the MRT louvers are mounted? Considering they say they are removable? I get the impression that means 4 holes in the body and bolted from the inside of the car which would stink. I don't want to drill holes, let alone remove interior panels just to mount/unmount these things.

I agree with you but I don't see how that is any different than what we would already get from the rocker panels where they overlap the fenders. You would get a lot more dirt/grime in there than the side louvers.

I'm having a hard time believing whoever it is at Street Scene sending the emails. They say the louvers can be removed for cleaning, but won't tell you how! Like everyone already knows, these are attached with 3m tape so I don't understand how they are easily removed. C'mon Street Scenes...if you have a secret, tell us! Here are the installation instructions from their site. The instructions say nothing about removal.

Sorry for the confusion. There is no secret. I dont think I ever said that you could remove them for cleaning- I think who ever it was that said that was talking about someone elses louvers. Ours are done with 3m tape so they dont come off very easy. We have cleaned the glass but you have to reach in with a rag. Someone else said that you might be able to use velcro and we havent tried that yet but as soon as our car comes back from Chicago we are going to give it a try.

No problem! The cleaning thing isomething we are looking into. We like to look at all the Mustang web sights to see what people think of our products and what we can do to improve them, find out what the trends are, etc. We really arent here to sell but to see whats going on. Its the best way we know of to get real feedback. We would like to think we know it all, but the truth is we dont! We also like to answer any tech questions. We cant sell directly to the public but we can try and figure out what the world thinks of what we are trying to do. Many of us here are also Mustang enthusiasts so we look at this stuff during our lunch breaks etc. Thanks for the input!
