This is for the Mod co's out there, I hope you'll consider making a rear panel or something that mimics the old Stang look. Check out the photochop I made to see what I mean. I just love this look.

That looks great, but modifying those lights could break federal laws.

Really? don't see why if they work like tail lights are supposed to. If someone makes this mod or if I do it myself someday they'll be looking at them for a long while cause I'm not pulling over for them lol.

Federal laws are very strict about luminosity and light angles and stuff like that. It's a real mess to create new taillights. I'll forward this topic on to some manufacturers and see what they think.

Thank you, that would be fantastic. Don't think I'll hold my breath but I will keep my fingers crossed.

IMO, There's a little too much seperation between each lense. Bring them a lot closer together and I think it would look better.

Your probably right I went nuts with the cloning tool trying to fill in between them and made the pic in about 10 mins. I was just trying to illustrate the general look. They may look even better with rounded corners to match the rear body lines.

IMO, thats doesnt match the car at all. The lights are fine stock as is. Absolutely horrible if you ask me since those "classic" lights were small to match the smaller-in-comparison back end.

Here are some variations of different taillights. The 64 didn't come out that well but I like the others.

I love the Shelby tail light look. I wish someone would come out with something like that!

Here's a response from an aftermarket company:

Brad, it probably can be done....most aftermarket restrictions are a bit more loose than those set up for the OE. That said, most of the light regulations involve visabilty from specific angles and distance.....that said, it is a good look!!

Like most things....this part could cost quite a few $$$ to tool up.

Sounds like it could be done then, thats great. Hopefully, someone will run with the idea. Thanks again for passing this on.

You have to remember the trunk lines as well. Unless you're up for replacing/modifying the entire trunk lid and rear end, you'll need to keep the unit the same general size as the stock one. IMO, the only way the shelby look would work is with a modified/aftermarket trunk lid. The smaller lights would be easy in comparison. Just find a way to fabricate a housing that matches the factory color on the outside and have the smaller lights built into it, and connect the whole unit to the factory harness.

So, anyone working on that?

Also, need to go to a duck tail, that wing just looks out of place.

The lights look good though, I'd be interested.

Imagine if all ten lit up with the brakes? You'd blind the person behind you.

I personally like the GT-500E look, minus the chrome trim.
