Just read the story on tsn.ca

Seems like it could be for health reasons. As everyone probably knows, Rudy did have some cancer treatment a while ago. Hopefully there are no complications.

Um, it will be Kobe! Kobe will start coaching the team next year!

The year after, he may even replace Cupchak!

I think Kobe believe's he could some day play all five positions at once, while Coaching and Managing the Organization.
